So... 3 orders arrived when I was on my cruise last week. Super excited -- the ultimate vape mail for a tinkerer like me.
Butyric Acid/Butanoic Acid -- Yep, this really really really smells like vomit. They even wrapped a lot extra and it still reeks. I am really blown away that this stuff is supposed to give a custard flavor to eliquids, but there it is.
I can't mix any of this until my more accurate scale arrives (hoping it wasn't a reddit scam, ugh), but I will be reporting back next week for sure.
What scale did you order? Specs?
Pretty psyched to hear about your progress. And yeah, butyric acid smells like fresh, delicious distilled eau de vomit. No bones about it. I suspect it's part of the awfulness of Cap VC V2.
I picked one up off of this dude but he hasn't shipped it yet, ugh. Hopefully it'll ship today and I can get to mixings Friday!
I will play with butyric a lot because there IS a market for VG based custard flavors for sure.
Ouch, you paid F&F? That's a bummer. I'm sure you had your reasons...
I almost got that same exact scale when I bought up a whole sheaf of flavors from a guy whose B&M shut down, shuttering his house juice line-up, but he didn't wanna come down to $100 on the price so I didn't get it. It's funny, I wonder if that guy bought it from him -- the timing works out, and in his ad he linked the EXACT same site, and included the same calibration weight.
This makes me happy! I hope you continue to update us :)
Butyric Acid smells like vomit because it is actually the main smell of vomit.
It's also the vomit taste in Hersheys.
Probably one of the best scales you can get for the money. Allows you to mix over a quart of e-liquid at a time if you're into premixing your bases. Also gives you great precision.
What is your goal with these molecules? I mean, I'm assuming that CAPs is using a slew of different chemicals along with their butyric acid in order to create a vanilla-custard-like sensation.
A labmate of mine did a few reactions with butanoic acid a while back. Even with 2 pairs of nitrile gloves and heavy duty nitrile-fabric gloves, her hands still smelled like vomit.
After you smell that stuff you will never want to eat Doritos again. In small concentration, that's what it smells like. It's completely gross.
I am going to make it a cologne for the rare nights I go out to bars.
Actually, I was thinking of rubbing my royal jewels in 2-acetyl pyrazine before I get on the train in the mornings. Wonder if I would survive 2 stops.
