So I've been diy-ing my juice for a little over a month now (with about 60 odd individual flavors so far) and I've notice that some flavors (like LorAnn Pomegranate for example) really dry my mouth out within a few puffs despite adding a sweetener like stevia which I've found so far usually helps a least a bit, The opposite to this is something like say TPA Banana Cream which doesn't feel like it's drying out nearly as quickly.
So how can I combat this effect? I've read that Ethyl Maltol adds moisture, but I don't want the burnt sugar flavor in my juice. Are there any more options?
I've had chronic dry mouth since the day I started vaping. No form of food or drink will satiate it. I've tried ratios from 20/80 to 80/20 and they make no difference. I tried saline solution, Biotine and drinking an almost unhealthy amount of water. Nothing makes a difference. If it wasn't for this vaping would be perfect. YMMV.
what's your nic level? I had this problem until I got down to 4mg, although 6 wasn't terrible.
I have the same problem and I also drink an insane amount of water. My wife and I have also noticed that I get really bad breath. When I smoked, I really didn't have a bad breath problem. I've found chewing gum really helps, but I still brush my teeth and tongue 3-4 times a day. My morning breath could kill the bacteria in a cat's litter box.
God, I thought I was the only one. It's driving me crazy but I'd rather vape than do analog stuff. I've started just occasionally having some sort of hard candy in my mouth while vaping - I've been sucking on caramels while doing a modified Sugar Bear clone I made and it is actually really good that way. This doesn't work as well for all the strawberry flavors I'm obsessed with, though.
TheraBreath Mouth Wetting Dry Mouth Lozenges. I bought a box of 100 of them at Walgreens the other day in Mandarin Mint flavor. It's ridiculous how wet your mouth gets as soon as you pop one in, and it definitely helps with the bad breath. I think the box was $12, but it was worth it. Their effect lasts longer than the mint so I haven't been going through them as fast as I thought I would.
What PG/VG ratio?
I usually do 70/30 vg/pg for all my mixes. Would that make a difference?
Somewhat, depending on temperature -- adding triacetin to an eliquid can give it smoothness and moistness (MTS Vape Wizard is likely triacetin based).
This may not necessarily be pertaining to your question but its one that I've had for a while and reading your post reminded me of it. There's certain juices that I get from my brick and mortar shop and I always get a 50 50 mix and 3 milligrams nic. However while vaping one I really like the kind of hit I get but on another juice exact same mix and nic level different flavor I get way more throat irritation. Is this what you're talking about?
That's not, but I know of this which you speak of.
Fuck the mystery continues. It really pisses me off too. Because it takes a juice I feel kinda meh about and just makes me despise it. So to vape it I end up mixing juices which is fine like that's not too serious, the flavor isn't amazing but it doesn't suck. But I just end up half assing a juice to enjoy it. Any ideas of how to fix this?
Certain flavors or additives can give additional throat hit. Check out this page for tons of great diy info.
Try adding 3-5 drops of distilled water to a 15-20ml bottle, a little goes a long way. Saline also works well, but will contribute to coil gunk as salt doesn't vaporize very well. You could also try adding some MTS from flavor art, but if Ethyl Maltol isn't helping then I doubt it will either.
