Ok weird thing happened a couple days ago, I made a test batch, all tfa flavors, at about 15%. Liked it, made a 15ml with a few tiny adjustments. Tasted even better. Went ahead and made a 30ml with just a few extra layers of flavor, keeping the general idea going. After mixing it all up it went cloudy, figured "ok let it steep and maybe a little warm bath." did that, didn't clear up after a week so I figured what the hell I'll see how it turned out, gave it a good long shake and vaped it. Tasted amazing. Fast forward a couple days, got up in the morning shook it and dripped and no flavor, at all, shook it a bunch more still no flavor. warm bath and shaking, no flavor. What gives? Any ideas?
edit: should note the ingredients:
all tfa: watermelon, pineapple, coconut, key lime, lemon, and whipped cream. Predominate flavors are coconut and key lime.
nicotine is nude nicotine 100mg 100% vg
and the rest is kosher grade vg.
Its the key lime, i make a key lime pie recipe based off someones post on here and the flavor is completely muted and flat after a week and a half to two weeks. i always just make small bottles of it whenever i make it so it doesnt sit for too long. Ive never found a way around it either.
Just a thought from reading your comment and just had the same thing happen. Maybe we should pre steep everything but the key lime. Add the last bit just before you go to use it.
This isn't really DIY related, as I didn't make this juice, but I've found that certain juices seem to lose their flavor over time, dependant upon temperature and exposure to oxygen, or perhaps certain flavorings used.
Could it be vapers tongue?
I don't think so, I vape different flavors all the time to switch it up. I vaped that for a day, then I switched to some witty octopus I had while thinking up new ideas. Went back to it the next day and no flavor.
it would be helpful to see your individual flavor percentages. the only things I can think of off the top of my head are that you need to try a little pg or less lime.
TFA Pineapple makes juices cloudy. Anything citrus for that matter.
I was actually thinking, what if we put too much of it? Or not enough of it? So after steeping it gets too diluted to even taste or it gets too strong of flavor that we just can't taste it? Can you try the experiment with one doing a 50% increase in flavors and on doing a 50% decrease in flavors and just let them steep for 2 weeks?
Enough of what? Total flavoring? Totals up to 15%, most recipes call for 10-20%. Depending on the flavors 10% can be perfect to too much.
That's what I mean. Lets say you put in 1 ml of strawberry. In one batch put 2 ml in another batch put 0.5 ml. It seems as thought the steeping process does something to flavors. So that's what you are trying to determine, is there too much flavor after steeping or too little flavor. Aging the juice changes the flavors extremely sometimes.
Not saying this will fix your recipe or anything, but you said you ran this juice as max VG (all VG besides flavorings). While most juices may run 10-20%, and 15% is right in the middle, it may be possible that 85%VG is enough to dilute the flavors you're running. I'll also say that very rarely is there a good juice below 15% flavoring that is made with all TPA... Most of the 10-15% juices are using LorAnn's or FlavorArt or something that is much more concentrated than TPA... So 15% is actually on the low-end, especially for a max VG juice. Try either bumping your flavors up 10-15%, or try making it a 70/30 blend and test it out.
