I am inexperienced with the tobacco flavorings. There are so many damn tobacco flavorings that I don't even know where to start. I have seen people talk about how good HS and FA are, so I got some FA Desert Ship, and nope.
I guess I'd appreciate suggestions on flavorings that would make a good vanilla/caramel tobacco. More of a dessert tobacco.
Right now I've got
TFA RY4 D - it is good, not very tobacco tasting, I'd like to find something in the same vein, though. Maybe a little more tobacco-y.
FA Desert ship - Like I said above, nope. It was not good even at 2 drops added to a 10ml RY4 I made.
Desert ship is definitely one of the more pungent FA tobaccos. I'd look into sample sizes of Shade and 7 Leaves if you didn't like DS.
thanks, I'll check those out
Shade is one of my favorite Tobaccos, but its very muted. It's much more of a complimentary flavor than a standalone. Desert Ship from FA is fucking excellent, so long as you use it under 1% and IT MUST STEEP 2 WEEKS, or until the juice becomes a golden color. At that point it will taste sort of like chocolate and tobacco. Before then it tastes like asshole.
I agree that 7 leaves is pretty great.
Dark Vapure left me with a big question mark, as did Cuban Supreme. They're not terrible, but require very lower percentages otherwise you risk them overpowering your mix.
FA RY4 is pretty damn good, but that, along with Royal, can't really be considered tobacco flavors as there's nothing very tobacco about them. That said, they're excellent flavors, especially FA RY4.
Inawera is my go to company for tobaccos.
They have a huge selection, but I'd start with their RY4. It's not as sweet as RY4D and definitely has more of a tobacco taste to it. You can then adjust your desired sweetness level with the addition of vanilla/caramel. Start at 4% and let steep for at least 4-5 days.
Maybe take a look at Captain on ecigexpress:

I picked it up recently, so haven't tested it out too much yet, but out of the 14 tobacco flavors I have so far that AREN'T an RY type, this one seems like it will be friendly to an RY4-ish profile. I have yet to try it with cocoa, but that's also something I'll be giving a shot.
TFA Black Honey is one of my favorites if you like floral flavors. Goes crazy well with TFA Honeysuckle. Just got some DK from TFA. Its pretty good. Acquired taste, but kinda citrusy to me. TFA RY4 Asian was one of my favorites to mix with fruit/dessert (that and vanilla custard were nice). RY4 double is hit or miss; it can be overpowering. Seedman's Virginia Cured Tobacco seems like a nice additive for the more floral ones. Hangsen Pipe is ... odd. I usually mix that with fruity flavors. It has almost a salty taste.
> Goes crazy well with TFA Honeysuckle
Well, that stuff is amazing on its own. TFA Orange Mandarin and Honeysuckle is a quick ADV.
What percentage do you mix Mandarin at?
All my trials with it have been either either barely discernible or alcohol/orange rind strong, from 5%-15%.
I put it at 5%, and the honeysuckle gets the same. It is very strong orange flavor, with what I call a "citrus" throat hit. It's different to me than the perfume/alcohol taste of some other flavors, so I thought it was intended. I could just be damaged in the head.
Intentional or not, the honeysuckle really smooths it out. A little TFA green apple makes a nice add to it, as well.
