Just wanted to thank everyone here for all of their help between posts and of course the side bar below.
I've gotten my DIY setup going and so far, it's been great.
Here's a picture of my mixing desk, still a work in progress but it's getting there Imgur
A picture of my flavor rack I built Imgur
The rack filled with some flavors (more on order) Imgur
And the newest addition to my mixing setup, a used PC 220 hot plate stirrer that arrived today. Got it on Ebay for under 100 bucks, have it running for a few hours now to test it out. Imgur
It heated my beaker of water up to 140 degrees without any problems.
I switched to mixing by weight a few weeks ago thanks to Botboy141's write-up and it's made things so much easier, thanks Botboy141 for taking the time and putting that together.
unless I'm mistaken /u/Botboy141 has kind of shied away from here since it's become so popular (or maybe hes just been drowned out by all the posts), but a lot of us owe so much to him. So here's my little token of appreciation. Cheers Botboy!
I'm still around, I post when I see something worthwhile to post on/contribute towards.
Unfortunately, ~80% of the posts that come up, are things I've responded to a dozen times before. Others will continue to help them and I'll sit back and wait for things more interesting to reply to.
Also been a little busy lately ;-)
Totally understandable, but we're still thirsty for your insight. Last I heard you were still messing around with jackfruit. Moved onto anything new and exciting??
I really need to build a flavor rack, but the garage is about 5 degrees.
Maybe it's time to unfinish the basement.
One of the downsides to living in Florida, no basement....the upside, my garage is the perfect temp this time of year for working on projects....gets a bit hot in the summer time so I have a portable A/C unit I keep out there to cool things down when I'm going to spend any amount of time working on something.
Same exact boat. Garage is frozen, plus my brother is always moving shit around in there and my basement is unfinished and pretty much every year it floods after the snow melts. I'm stuck with using the kitchen, which really sucks because I would love a desk to put a magnetic stirrer and a flavor rack but I just don't have the space :/
i hope you saved the plan for that rack. you'll eventually need more :P
I did save it....it's just a few notes jotted down in one of my notebooks....but it's there if I need it....Actually, after I made that one, I had an idea for a better one that will hold twice the bottles and take up about the same amount of wall space so once this is full, I'll start on the new one.
