DNA40 and Juice Testing
submitted over 10 years ago by Daheavyb

I got my GF a Protovapor XPV for valentines day. She's a casual vaper, but I was really interested in her having temp control for a 100% effortless vape.

I'll be damned if the temperature control didn't hit the mark perfectly. For those who aren't familiar with the DNA40's temperature control, it regulates the wattage to keep a constant temperature. In my tests, I set the temp control at 460F and I can't burn the cotton, it just dries it out until it supplies one watt or less.

I got to testing this on a NI200 wrapped .4 ohm coil on my reomiser2. I drop 2 or 3 drops on the atty, taste one of my DIYs and it simply dries out after a few hits, letting me test a completely different juice without dry burn or wick swapping! I also can't detect any flavor crossover.

My poor girlfriend. Looks like shes going back to the iStick.

I've had a rDNA 40 since November and couldn't be happier with the money I spent on it.

So much better than screwing with mechs or wattage controls. Haven't had a dry hit since.

right? I dont even remember what that is like. I sometimes will hit a friends and forget that dry hits actually exist. I do wish I could get a little more wattage out of this bad boy.

.4 ohms is really high for a dna40, the recommended range is like .11-.19.

Also, how did you get .4 ohms? Like 5 wraps of 32 guage?

More like super thick wire 22-24 gauge.

That's not how it works.

My mistake. I've never needed to sub, started with VW.

If you aren't using nickel wire, you aren't getting actual temp control.

Try a 28 gauge 10 wrap spaced coil around a 2.5mm screwdriver, single coil. Comes in around .12 ohms and works perfectly.

Aw man I have a Vaporshark rDNA 40 and I didn't even THINK of this! Man, I feel dumb. I even have some 28 gauge nickel wire. Looks like I'll be rebuilding one of my Freakshows tomorrow.

lol i hear you. i am super excited about GG's VIR chipset (coming out in a few weeks). it's more than temperature limitation like the DNA40 -- it's actual temperature control. titanium grade 1, too.

i am so sick of wattage. wattage doesn't mean jack. temperature control is going to be a key element. plus, it'll mean better battery life, no risk of acrolein or formaldehyde, a better more consistent vape and better cotton management

That's finally getting released for real? Where can I go to follow the latest info and catch up? I stopped paying attention in December because the updates got thin. What's the pricing look like?

I just posted a long response but my phone puked on reddit's GeoCities format.

Imeo got screwed with Evolve's idiotic VW patent so he had to trash over a year of work.

14500 in pre order now for release in a few weeks. 18650 soon after.

Looks pretty amazing. He has a few videos up.

That would save me so much time re-wicking. What a great idea.

I'm waiting for the YIHI SX350J mods to come out first though.
