So, my decadent custards are stinking up the office and I need my nic fix during these long phone calls.
Firstly, I'll start with a much higher PG level than usual to minimize the vapor production. Because the PG levels are going to be so high, I assume that means less flavoring will be needed. I am very capable of producing minimal vapor with high VG but it'll just be easier this way.
It's the scent that's the dead giveaway. My small office smells like a five star bakery. Everyone, except those who matter, comment on every and any foreign smell in the office. God I hate HR.
Are there any particular flavors that you find provide flavor without an overwhelming aroma? I vape dessert blends all the time and realize this isn't going to fly. I tried the thug juice recipe but menthol definitely has an odor.
Why not try this.....go to Walmart and find an air freshener that smells like a dessert blend and put one or two in your office...make sure they're easily visible that way if anyone asks....just say, oh it's my air freshener that smells so good.
Try Ozium. That stuff gets rid of any and all smell. You could be smoking 6 blunts in a car with the windows up and spray that stuff for a quarter of a second and it wont smell like anything even though you can't see 4 inches in front of you. I swear to god that isn't even an exaggeration, it really works that well.
Peppermint. It happens to be my favorite, but it is pretty much odorless. I also keep an electric scented candle in my office, but my vape scent is never detected.
Vape unflavored perhaps? Sounds boring, though :D
Unflavored actually tastes pretty good.
I tested one time, by dropping a couple of drop (I think 3 drops), of apple flavoring in 10 ml if unflavored. It was actually sufficient! I could actually taste the apple, and it was rather nice!
Question and this isn't to be rude. Are you an ex smoker? If so did you smoke in the office at work? I know you didn't. I face the same dilemma as you. I try to be cautious and not get myself in trouble. It's not worth it. It makes those vape breaks much much sweeter.
This is so true about breaks. However, if I get caught on a call, I can't take a break. This can be upwards of 4 hours, which is sheer torture in itself.
I've heard this argument before and understand to a certain extent. This isn't a real rebuttal but...
I've gotten many, many compliments from random strangers saying how good my vape smells and want to take a whiff whereas just today... I had to move away from cigarette smokers. The scent made me ill.
I've only had one coworker react negatively to the scent while others just comment on ohhh it smells like so and so in here. In the end, the health risks are unknown. Ahhhh man. My parade is getting poured on.
It's hard to have a real argument against the unknown.
Nah I was just looking ou as a fellow vaper. I understand. The level of my calls at an absolute maximum depending on the complexity. I guess I can see where you're coming from. I wasn't even looking at it in the health risk perspective. Just some etiquette :)
Good God I feel your pain. I was told Friday that I couldn't even fill my tank at my desk because someone was offended by the smell of my juice. It makes me want to pummel the little twit that complained. Who incidentally was chatting it up with some guy in the bathroom while dude in the stall was melting the wallpaper off the walls. I fucking hate corporate, politically correct America sometimes. Kid is younger than my son and I want to kill him sometimes. Anyway, I'll be following this thread.
My man... I'm glad I'm not the only one with these emotions. The corporate world is infuriating at times.
After 2 years of being trapped in a small office with the same woman, it's finally over. She moved halfway across the country. I had mistakenly befriended her, brought the wife and kids over to her house for dinner and so on. Lesson learned.
It's simply not worth the risk of having to deal with a hostile situation, day in, day out. I could write a book on the contradictions that spewed from her mouth, complaining of my offensive cologne (lightly applied that is), food, vape, whatever. Meanwhile, she would eat large bowls of pungent soup... hot meals that would stink up the entire floor.
One day, I think what the heck and brought in chili. My typical lunch consists of your average cold cut sandwich, yogurt and apple. That particular day, the head honcho was in the office, stepped in as I was eating it and reprimanded me... in front of her mind you... telling me in a patronizing tone that 'smelly' foods aren't allowed. Less than an hour later, my coworker... I shit you not... ate a dish with what smelled like a can of minced garlic and raw shrimp.
Occasionally, I would come back from break to our small office reaking of perfume, because she would douse it in whatever fragrance she pleased. It was a nightmare.
It's not in my nature to mess with the livelihood of another person so I simply accepted her disgusting BO. Yes, I'm talking a scent of someone who hasn't showered in days. I not once went to a supervisor or anything... yet she did many times.
Looking back on it in hindsight has me seeing red.
I guess what really irks me is that I quit smoking, and now the smell of my juice offends one person so all the vapers in the department can't even fill their tanks indoors anymore. There are 5 vapors out of 13 guys. This guy is not a bad worker but is a whiny little bitch.
He doesn't complain when someone burns lunch in the break room around the corner or the fact that the bathrooms don't have exhaust fans because it's a "green" building. I really don't think the smell has anything to do with it. I think he has an ulterior motive. He used to smoke as well. Maybe it's because he isn't in the "click" anymore. No idea but we don't need that stress on top of the work stress. *High stress job
Go outside to vape. People like you give a bad perception of the community. If you must get your nicotine fix rub juice into your hands.
Please explain. I'm trying to minimize my exposure, and I want to avoid disturbing those around me. Wouldn't that put me in the other category? Non-vapors fear the "smoke". Eliminate the vapor and the odor, problem solved, no?
Oh wait. All that formaldehyde. I forgot! =]
What about nicotine that a pregnant co worker could be inhaling?
I know you're probably joking but:
~~Which means less than 6/10,000ths of what was inhaled is exhaled.~~
~~That means if for an entire 15mL bottle of 18mg/mL juice, all of the exhales combined would be~~
~~15mL*18mg/mL * (0.06%) = 0.162 mg~~
~~And thats if you inhaled the entire bottle at once, exhaled, and then the pregnant coworker ran around catching all the vapor with their nose.~~
EDIT: Corrected below
If you want to get down to the brass tacks of it, vaporizing and inhaling ejuice (especially the flavoring portions) hasn't been thoroughly researched and therefore the long term effects of it haven't yet been determined. Sure, you, I and many others agree it is relatively harmless, however you are still involuntarily exposing others to it in an enclosed work environment and I'm sure some of them see a problem with that (and will likely raise complaints to HR). Most corporate policies concerning tobacco use have been already been amended to include electronic cigarettes.
