Question about Lemon Juice (Concentrate) with a Strawberry Lemonade diy mix
submitted over 10 years ago by laterbreh

Just started DIY thanks to this reddit! My package just came in with all the goodies! I really want to make my first juice: Strawberry Lemonade!

I'm curious about using Lemon concentrate (The stuff that you find at the grocery store usually in a plastic "lemon" looking bottle). I'm curious if it would do better than adding just a Lemon flavor to my strawberry base. Also, would anyone have any suggestions on flavor concentration for this mix? I would like more strawberry with a nice note of lemon. Target would be a VG heavy liquid at 70%+

In my opinion, don't bother using the fake lemon juice stuff. It ruins your coils pretty quickly and vapes...weird. It's essentially the same principle as citric acid, not lemon flavor. Some people have luck, but I never have.

I've had excellent results using ecigexpress's lemon (Fruit Express brand). Their website is the only place to get it, but it really is that good. I don't have my exact recipe for a good strawberry lemonade, but either Capella sweet strawberry or TFA strawberry ripe around 6-8%, FE lemon at 2-3% and 1 drop per ml of citric acid to a finished bottle, if you have it. If not, it'll still be really good.

So just to be clear the "juice" that I picked up is squeezed lemon filtered, then put in the plastic lemon looking container. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I would assume that Citric acid would be in this bottle? You're saying due to everything else in there, it wouldnt be worth it? I thought a drop or two per 5 or 10 ml might give that extra oomph with the lemon flavor.

Thank you for your input, I'm going to give yours a shot.

PS The flavors I have are from FE.

It'll work in a pinch, but it's definitely not on par with citric acid or any lemon flavor I've used. To get an alright lemon flavor, I had to use quite a bit of it and at that point, it just ruined my juice, not to mention my coils.

Despite the tartness of a freshly squeezed lemon, it still has a lot of sugar in it. You wouldn't mix granular sugar into your liquids would you? Of course not. The same problem applies with lemons or any other freshly squeezed fruit.

I know a lot of folks use Realemon brand lemon juice but I personally don't and wouldn't. It contains preservatives like sodium benzoate, sodium metabisulfite and sodium sulfite. I'm not qualified to comment on their safety for inhalation or impact on coils/wicking/vapor, but its something I chose to avoid.

Fresh-squeezed lemon juice is going to have a bit of sugar and you don't want to vaporize or potentially burn and inhale.
