Howdy folks, quick question for ya'll. There is a company, called Clutch vapors. They have two blends that are VERY colorful, straight up bright red and pink. I was curious if it was at all possible that the color of this liquid, and T.K.O. can be achieved without food coloring/dye.
I only ask because when I questioned them on Instagram, and they said there was no dye in their liquid. Their answer was "it's from the flavoring, raspberry is red". I know for goddamn sure Moab has FA forest fruit And Fuji/Apple in it. Never seen my shit turn neon from those.

Very bright or neon like colors are generally an indication of artificial/food coloring. Fruit flavorings that are clear generally mean there is no artificial coloring. Darker colors might be achieved without coloring, but probably not blindingly bright neon colors. If you have a juicer or blender at home you can observe this for yourself when making juice from real fruits and vegetables.
Thanks for your input! Unless they're using a beet juice extract, I suspect dye. I've had liquid turn a variety of colors/shades. Nothing ever came from the Crayola factory though. This would probably aggravate me less if they were a bit more transparent about it.
I've had juices go pretty orange on their own. Not bright fluorescent orange, but a nice deep orange that was very, orange in appearance. That was from using cream and blueberry, although I suspect it's the cream mostly that gives it the orange color. But yeah orange is pretty Crayolaesque.

I agree. We know some liquids have dye in them from using certain flavorings such as LA, so why be so shady as to block someone who is merely questioning? If there is dye in your product, admit it to your customers, or do something to prevent it. The company's actions here wreak of shadiness.
I feel like the LA banana cream has dye in it. And I still love it. It doesn't mean people are going to stop using it. But yeah with money involved people get scared of losing their investment. I understand. This community is pretty reasonable though if you make an effort to change.
Sure does... Yellow #5, as stated on the bottle. Funny, way back in high school kids always joked the Yellow #5 in Mountain Dew was going to make your um... "junk" shrink! I'm curious if this was just something that was said at my school only, or was this a widespread urban legend?
Disclosure: All this aside, I still use LA Banana Cream in some of my recipes. I don't drink Mountain Dew though hah.

It's dark red in the bottle, and when added to juice gives it a reddish/pink tint.
A lot of the apple juices when mixed give things a yellowish tint ( I have a watermelon / apple blend that took on neon-yellow tint after steeping in bottle for a week or so ) , so maybe with the raspberry natural it will take that red color.
My problem with the Raspberry natural is that it does NOT vape well ... i've tried it in place of raspberry / raspberry sweet from TFA and the flavor "cooks" badly when vaped... anything more than 1% ( 0.1ml in a 10ml ) of it and the juice is pretty much trash.
Thanks man! I hadn't tried or seen that particular raspberry. I'm fairly certain that M.O.A.B is just FA Forest fruit and FA Fuji and Apple. Last time I mixed those, it was an opaque greenish brown.
Kind of off topic but I have both of those flavours coming in with my order tomorrow, if I wanted to try a MOAB type juice what percentages would you recommend? Start with a 3 and 3?

Is the actual juice that color or just in the product shots? High nic levels can tint the juice, but I've never seen to that extent.
The liquid is actually that color! No fancy photoshop done.

It might be "from the flavoring", but it's dye that was added to the flavoring by the manufacturer if that's the case.
LorAnn is bad about it, they put dye in everydamnthing.
A tint is one thing, I've seen flavors impart a super light purplish or bluish hue to liquid, but the liquid still appears clear, it's not neon purple or blue.
I've tried hundreds of flavorings, and I've never seen a single one that had color like that which wasn't dye.
Red is iffy depending on if the juice is aged. I've had juice start out clear or light yellow and turn red after aging. Not neon red, but pretty darn red.
For the most part if it's not clear, yellow, orange, red, or brown it's dye. Unfortunate, but that's the way it is. Even if it is those colors it still might be dye.
I'd guess they are using LorAnn's raspberry, strawberry or watermelon of which there are colorless replacements for the raspberry and watermelon but not the strawberry. However, it is possible they are using a different raspberry/strawberry that also imparts artificial color. FWIW, the flavor does not inherently contain color, it's added by LorAnn's as the majority of their clients use it in food (primarly confection making) so it adds something for most of their clients.

I won't say this vendor was purposely misleading it's clients, based on your description of what they said, I'd assume instead that they are just completely clueless like many vendors out there, just there to make a quick buck with no real understanding of what the fuck they are doing.
I'm inclined to think there's food coloring in it (either from Clutch or the flavor mfg.) I've tried at least a dozen raspberry juices from various companies (none were that great, FWIW) and none of them were red; they were all clear or the standard pale straw color. If Clutch isn't adding the coloring themselves, whichever brand of flavoring they're using should state the food coloring type/number on the bottle of flavor concentrate (ie "Red #5" or whatever.)
On a side note: are there any good raspberry flavorings that don't taste like cough syrup or old lady perfume? It seems to be something of a unicorn from what I can tell.
All of their lines use LorAnn andFlavor Art- I have not been able to track down whether they use TFA, Capella or other. They for DAMN sure use Dye in Many of their lines. Buckshot is their oldest and they just recently removed dye from those recipes. Joker from Time Bomb and Flare from RoyBot also have the same bright red hue as TKO. Looks like flavor that has the dye hasn't been sourced as colorless.
When I was playing with diy extracts, I had a tea flavor that color from just a couple drops of hibiscus extracted and concentrated in water. Quite a pleasant flavor with fruits. I imagine red grape skin extract would to the same, but it's harder to get a hold of.
First of all I love TKO and I want to clone it really bad. I recently ordered some raspberry from Natures Flavors and it is super dark red. Tastes terrible too but I chock that up to not knowing what I'm doing. I imagine that if I used a lower percentage than I did initially the color would be spot on. My first mix was terrible.
