Malic Acid or what's the most sour we can go?
submitted almost 11 years ago by ___on___on___

How much Malic acid or Tart and Sour before it starts to ruin a mix? I'm looking for that warhead kind of feel.

Warhead candy canes use Tartaric Acid. Not sure if they both use that or not. Citric acid is not sour, it adds a pop.

I got some of those the other day. Those are amazing.

Actually, Citric Acid is sour. However, when dissolved @ 10% in PG and then added to a mix @ 1% you are only vaping 1% Citric Acid. Eating pure citric acid is a favorite of mine when mixing up more dilution though! It's definitely the same type of sour taste on warheads/sour skittles/sour patch kids, etc. Might be tartaric on those instead, but very very very similar.

I typically don't consider citric acid sour, as I would malic or tartaric acid.

I use 3% of a 10%citric acid and VG mix in my fruit flavors. If I use more I don't experience anymore souring or any off tastes so I keep it there.

Lots of citric acid probably won't be good for your teeth. As to your question my limit is about 2.5% of citric acid dillute at 10%, it only gives me a very sour flavor with juicy lemon or green apple- already acidic flavors

After about 5% (1 to 9 parts solution PG ) it starts burning. Tastes like caramel or burning sugar.
