To honor the release of batch #4 of Phillipe Rocke's "Creme de la Creme" today...
submitted almost 11 years ago by protonicbeats

Clone de la Creme (80/20 VG/PG)

2% FA Hazel Grove (Hazelnut)

2% CAP Hazelnut V2

2% CAP Pralines and Cream

2% TFA Dulce de Leche

1% FA Fresh Cream

.5% FA Dark Bean (Coffee Espresso)

.5% FA Irish Cream

This is my first "original" clone. My goal when I set out to start DIY two months ago was to nail this recipe, and my tastebuds are telling me I've done it. Thanks for all your help! Enjoy :-)

POST-STEEPING EDIT: days 2-5 were glorious, and after that it started getting bitter. still needs a bit of tweaking, or just vape it fast!

Edit 2: u/padaman420 asked HIC about the bitter taste, and based on his input I tweaked the recipe and have it sitting in the crockpot on warm for ~10 hours. will update tonight with results, and will also make another bottle of that same recipe tonight to let it steep naturally and update in 2 weeks

I was gonna try this recipe to make a batch for friends before reading the bitterness showing up at 5+ days. I have asked HIC the Iron Chef of DIY ejuices over at VU if he had an idea of what was causing the bitter taste and he told me thathe supsects t might be the CAP Hazelnut V2 since they're using a new chemical to make the flavor. And maybe by upping the FA hazelnut instead of putting the CAP one might be better.

Don't know if it wold resolve the issue, but I guess it's worth a Try.

Could it be the 2 1/2 month oak barrel steeping that Rocke is doing that removes that bitterness ?

One thing for sure, I will try your recipe for my daily shake and vape,

wow thanks for asking him! I tried the recipe recently with 1% pralines and cream and instead of 2% and it lost some sweetness but still had that bitterness. based on your comment, I think I'm going to try to remove the cap hazelnut v2 and keep the rest of the ratios the same, up the FA hazelnut by 1% and use 1.5% pralines & cream. I'm going to be mixing this and a Vaping Rabbit - The Hatter clone a few of us were working on in another thread (just in case you're interested) tonight so I'll update if that version works out better

and yeah the oak barrel must have something to do with it O.o let's add .5% FA Oakwood to compensate! /s

No wayy, impossible!!! =D!

How close do you believe this is?!?!!?!

it's almost indistinguishable after 2 hours in the crockpot and 24 hours sitting in the dark.. even the juice that splashes into your mouth tastes the same. the pralines and cream was the hardest part to figure out but it went from "eh it's close I guess" to "oh shit" by adding that. then the .5% irish cream was the nail in the coffin

I mixed up the latest version last night, haven't tasted it yet but it's been on the "warm" setting of the crockpot for about 10, I'm going to mix up another bottle tonight and let it steep normally for 2 weeks and compare then. the original recipe had a golden 24 hours where it was spot on (when I made OP) but it wasn't consistent. I'll update OP tonight after I try the latest version taking HICs advice

[edit: read through the comments to see what I'm talking about]

now you get to compare side by side! even though I have this I'm still debating buying the original... I'm a sucker for good marketing, what can I say

Ohhhhh neat! I've never had the original stuff but I'll definitely check this out. Only need to order two of the ingredients.

Thank you for your work on this! Don't forget to cross post it to the clone recipe thread if you haven't already.

So you were able to achieve the same taste without steeping it in the reclaimed brandy barrels?

Just purchased a bottle today from a local vape shop. This one says batch 00304 and it is awesome. I initially bought one of his other lines ANML Carnage and then Looper. Which are both great. My goal was to clone Carnage and on my second try I nailed it. I even did a taste test at my local shop, and they thought it was spot on. Looper was almost the same and I have recipe that is almost identical. I am looking forward to trying this recipe out and unfortunately TFA is closed until Jan. 2. I will say though that Carnage was extremely easy to make and I was surprised because its get so much hype. Looper was just slightly harder but not that bad. It just seems to me that there is quite a bit of marketing and hype around PR's juices that I just wonder if some techniques are exaggerated. Don't get me wrong though they are all very good.

I had the same experience cloning Carnage as well haha now that it's been a few weeks I think this recipe could use some tweaking, it was spot on for days 2-5 but after that it started to get a little bitter

I think your right it does get slightly bitter, but that's an easy fix. I'll message you with my version if you will do the same

Nice recipe, hazelnut lover here, never tried the original rocke's.

A brief anecdote about one of the flavors - I've vaped a lot of the following little recipe from ECF

8% CAP hazelnut v2, 4% FA cuban supreme, 1% EM, but @ 10-11% total flavor, down from 13% - still bold

After a week or 2, the hazelnut really pops and tames the bold, otherwise greenish tobacco. I've tried to replace it using all FA and it comes out bitter from the natural woody note that gets stronger with steeping (when I try to keep the nut taste out front). FA hazel's finish does get creamier, but not in a deep, golden way like CAP or FW. +1 for authenticity, but that wood happens.

My first try at this will be 1% FA hazel and 4% Cap hazel v2. FW hazel is delicious but I try to avoid it if possible...

I never liked Irish Cream (I suspected this first until reading on) - thought it tasted more like chocolate liqueur, maybe mine was bad.
