How much flavoring is too much?
submitted almost 11 years ago by AsmallDinosaur

I'm working on a creamy pear juice, but haven't mixed it up yet. Here's the recipe, all TFA:

  • Pear 10%
  • Apricot 2%
  • Strawberry (Ripe) 2%
  • Strawberry 2%
  • Vanilla Swirl 2%
  • Sweet Cream 6%

All together that's 24% flavoring and that seemed a little high. I am doing 70% VG though, so it might be fine. Around what percent flavoring would you say is too much, for TFA at least?

That sweet cream percentage is high. I use tfa sweet cream at 1-2%, and it is not good really on its own.very buttery taste to it.

Also, iirc tfa pear is really strong as well. That 10% could end up just masking all of the other flavors.

Personally id try 5% pear, then 2% everythng else first.

This! I have had it overrun every other flavor in a batch

I'd even go lower on the Vanilla Swirl. If you're vaping 70/30, then you're probably using an RDA, and at least in my experience Vanilla Swirl is good around 1%, otherwise it can become a little too harsh. But that's just me!

When it starts to taste bad, you've gone too far ;-)

Or suddenly stops tasting like anything. Made that mistake before... lots of wasted juice

overwhelms the senses and your brain ignores the flavor. olfactory fatigue.

Cut everything but the apricot in half and I doubt you'll notice a difference.
