Freezing/Refrigerating nicotine.
submitted almost 11 years ago by Ryuuzaki_LMixologist

Hey all. In just got 2 liters of nicotine from NudeNicotine. I was just wondering if I could stick it in the freezer in the tall plastic bottles it comes in.

I have a few small amber glass bottles, but no where near enough for all my nicotine.

Thanks.

My advice: put it in the freezer for now, but put in an order ASAP for a sufficient amount of glassware to hold all of it, & as soon as that arrives, sanitize the bottles & transfer the base to them. Refrigeration will slow down leaching, but it won't stop it entirely.

Also, little tip: put the bottles in plastic ziploc bags before putting them in the freezer so any condensation/frost is on the baggie instead of directly on the bottle.

Hope this helps!

Sounds great. And thanks for that tip about the zip lock bags.

So, I left my nude nic unrefrigerated for maybe 2 weeks before I put it in the freezer. Its been in a zip lock ever since. I've been using it in all my mixes but is it still safe? I think it has that peppery smell everyone talks about. It's pretty strong.

Are you smelling the nicotine solution directly? If so.. that's normal. Don't sniff it too much lol I wiffed it one time when I wasn't thinking and got super light headed (doh).

I did the same thing. I thought the light headed feeling was me being paranoid. But yes, I put my nose right up to the opening of the bottle of nic and sniffed it good and it was pretty pungent. I'm hoping that the 2 weeks it was unrefrigerated didn't taint it enough to make my mixes harsh or less enjoyable.

/u/zerotoleranceftw has the right of it here. 2 weeks is nothing unless you've been storing it open on a windowsill during the day and in a running oven at night. Normal storage at room temp isn't going to affect things much if at all, at worst maybe a barely noticeable increase in harshness if you vape 18mg/mL mixes, but otherwise I strongly doubt it'd even be detectable.

Also, you asked about safety - taste will degrade long before safety even approaches becoming a concern.

TL;DR: you're fine. :)

Can confirm. I've been using the same nic for 6ish months now and it's been stored in a cardboard box in my room. No noticeable change that I've been able to see.

YESYESYES! Dont fret about transfer to glass unless we're talking about a prolonged storage of 2-6mo

Thanks. I guess you would know better than anyone else haha :)

Do have to say though, I love your nicotine. So much better than other places I've tried.

This is how I read it the first time. Relieved that you aren't asking for nudes from your customers. Haha :p

The nic won't freeze -- but 100% PG nic will have a VG-like consistency.
