I finally have a nice assortment of flavors, bottles and enough base for about 6000ml. Thanks to everyone on this sub for the great info and inspiration.

Woot woot, do it to it!

This is awesome. Did you build it yourself?

Doubtful. It looks like it came out of a 1950's laboratory.

Idk about 1950s but it's legit 1980 I got the aluminum plate looking shiny and new with some 220 grit sandpaper.

Lol no I was looking at building one but I really wanted the hotplate. I picked this one up for 54$ on eBay.

what is this magical device?

It's a magnetic stirrer. You put in metal bar which is coated in teflon into your container, and the machine spins it around and mixes your stuff. That one also heats up i guess.

that thing looks so awesome but so expensive. Out of curiosity how does it par with an ultrasonic which doesn't technically stir it but uses vibrations to agitate the juice?

And absolutely no residue from magnet or teflon?

I think ubei's answer is right. Nothing from the magnet will go through the teflon. Teflon is very tough, most chemicals won't affect it, it can handle extreme temperatures, and it is one of the slickest materials. There will be very little friction from the teflon spinning on the glass.

They've been using them in legitimate laboratories for decades ... what do you think?

teflon is very non-reactive. That's why they coat the bars with it.

I second this question! Looks extremely useful

How much juice do you make? Crazy investment haha.

Just getting started really but I have three vaper's in my house and a few friends who want to buy 120 to 240 ml at a time

Looks like a good one. If only they had one with a built-in digital scale hmm...

I was wondering if anyone made a magnetic stirer/hotplate/scale. My guess is you couldn't use the stir bar/stir motor while weighing, but it would still be super useful. Or the real question, is there one that isn't $5000 professional lab equipment?

that is pretty bad ass.

I've been waning to use something like this for a while. I have an infrared hot plate for heating. Would there be a way for me to diy a magnetic stirrer that could work with my hot plate?

A magnetic stirrer is easy enough with a pc fan, fan speed control and neodymium magnets. If you can get the magnets to work through your plate is the key. When I was looking at diy options I was considering a thermoelectric cooler.

How about one of these on top? I was thinking this might work.

My only concern would be regulating the temperature with this you have no temp control

Any idea how to determine how hot 150w would get over how much time?

I can't afford a heated plate/stirrer device, so I just purchased a simple magnetic stirrer (hasn't arrived yet). How much of an advantage would a combo device like this be over, say, heating some water in the microwave, sitting the flask in the hot-ish water for 10-mins, then stirring the flask up on the magnetic stirrer?

I'm sure the constant heating of the liquid on the combo stirrer is better, but is it worth the double-price?

It's all subjective to be honest. I was using the crackpot shake method prior to this or natural steeping. The heat seems to be necessary with the mixer if you are making a decent size batch to thin the juice.

Yes, I am using hot water baths to mainly thin juices out so that they mix more readily when shaking by hand. For speed-aging, heat would be good, though?

I'm merely trying what others have suggested but if you believe in speed steeping you get a constant mix at a regulated temp best of both worlds similar to the ultrasonic heat/shake method with more control.

For those looking at diy options this is what I was considering along with a 12v DC temperature controller you can find on Amazon for around 14$.
