I used to work in a produce department!
Well, one day, for shits and giggles, due to lack of exciting produce, we ordered in several Durian.
The next day, upon recieving the Durian, we decided to, and i quote my supervisor here, "Slice them up like watermellon, wrap them, and sell them on an iced table".
Well, i was the one stuck with the task. First, let me tell you, cutting a huge durian into chunks was not an easy task. The fruit extruded stinky smelly resin like goop, that to this day, nobody has been able to get off the knifes we used. Kind of like epoxy resin that never hardens.
Anyway, after several wasted aprons, two broken knifes, and and infuriating the people that worked in the deli, we managed to cut the damn things up into pieces, and wrap them.
The smell was stinky, but it just smelled like old rotten fruit sort of. We spread like 20 pieces out on the ice table, and left them there overnight. The next moning, i was the first one to open the department. nothing could have prepared me for that smell... Oh my god. Like a dumpster filled with decomposing compost, rotten meat, flesh, fruit, all left out on a hot summers day. The entire store stunk like something crawled up in the walls and died there several weeks ago. The fruit had turned brown and slimy within like 12 hours of being cut and refrigerated.
Against my better judgement, i decided to try a piece. I chopped off a morsel from one of those stinking lumps, and i kid you not, it was the most unusual and delicious something i have ever sampled in the produce department.
Like wow.... Both Durian and Jackfruit do this. It's incredible HOW STINKY those things are.
Funny story. I spent a few years in Thailand where durian is extremely common. I always walked quickly past the durian section of supermarket. Hate that stench. Don't care much for the taste either, but seems I'm in the minority on that. People freaking love durian. And they don't package it up anything like what you've described. The fruit itself always reminds me of Bowser from Super Mario Bros.

Keep track of which flavors you use the most of, and order 4oz bottles (wholesale) direct from TFA next go-round. Thank me later.
I don't understand, I see like 4 vials of black honey tobacco in picture 1, but none in 2. Why did you order so much if it makes you ill?
Also, I'm surprised that a flavor like red oak decent. I've never tried it. What % did you use?
I use it it my Manhattan recipes, it is hell on coils though and I keep meaning to find an alternative. I forget what I use it at but I know it is fairly low, I'm thinking like 3%. It gives alcohol Flavorings like whiskey and rum additional body.
I'm not a fan of those glass bottles. These smaller bottles are really for determining if you enjoy the flavor and experimenting with it more than anything and these bottles aren't really conducive to doing so. I like WL though. I just wish they wouldn't use these.
These bottles are the perfect size and for sampling. They allowed me to order the majority of TFA's selections for a relatively small amount of money. Once I determine which ones I really like, I'll order larger quantities. I also put dropper caps on these vials and reuse them for juice. They're great for work.
How's the Chai Tea? I've been considering it for a while!
I haven't tasted it yet, but from about 4" away it smells dead-on. Maybe very slightly more floral (juniper?) than the chai I usual end up drinking. With my nose almost touching the bottle it smells more medicinal (phenolic?) and quite sweet.
I just put in my first order from them today. Ordered ten flavors, can't wait, I've been stuck using menthol, Shirley Temple and a White Chocolate Raspberry from NN for the last couple months. Going to be great mixing and experimenting with something other than standalone flavors.
Let us know how the WCR is. I'm curious to know if it has a real raspberry flavor to it or if it's more of an artificial/candy/medicinal flavor.
Chicken and waffle... what the fuck?
I had to order it, just because. Chicken and waffles (the dish) is surprisingly good, so I figured, why not? I haven't tasted it yet, but the smell is definitely accurate.
