I hope this thread is alright here.... I won't go into my local B&M (I'm fussy about being lied to,) and so my juice choices have been very limited but satisfactory. Lack of local options is a big part of why I'm getting into diy.
I'm getting supplies in now, and I'm reading recipes obsessively, but here's the thing, I have no idea what these famous juices people are cloning taste like! My first experiment was mixing vendor tobacco with a vanilla/butterscotch which I suspect is like RY4. Could you fine folks possibly list a few of your favorites, with descriptions of what they taste like? I'm pretty sure a clone recipe is here somewhere!
I'll list a few of my faves:
Bombies: Nana Cream, Kiss The Ring, Black Out City, Bacco B
The Vapor Chef: Kerrie's berries, Honey Peary, Strawberry VC Cake, Hobbes Blood
Gremlin: Vanilla Custard (must try this of you like vanilla deserty), Pink Sunburst, Red white and blue
Seduce Juice: Jango, snake oil, snake venom
Cosmic Fog: Milk and Honey
I barely buy vender juices anymore but my friend still does and im able to try new stuff that venders release from him. I order some vender juice on occasion just to treat myself (still got some faves that I can't reproduce). Hope that helps!

I will definitely order that vanilla custard, on your recommendation! I'm surprised how much I've enjoyed the rich, dessert style vapes I've tried, as I'm not really a sweets person. I'm going to have a whole box of vanilla experiments... I went ahead and bought vanillin and ethyl vanillin in powder even before my fluids came in.
If you're up for experimenting I recommend capella vanilla custard. It's delicious. Mix it with other creams and vanillas (I use capella french vanilla with mine and a bunch of other stuff) to make my vanilla custard
Keep in mind, everyone's taste is different: for every 3 people that love Bombie's 'Nana Cream, there's one person who doesn't get what the hype is about. A lot of us here haven't purchased vendor juices in months, if not years. You might want to do a search on /r/ecr, and see who offers the best sample packs. I know at first, I was looking for the best "tobacco" flavors, and now I stick to fruits and creamy mixes. So before/while you learn to DIY, it's important to learn WHAT you want to DIY.
Thanks, I will take your advice! Most of what I've bought online so far are tobaccos, and the only one I've cared for was a cheap, sweet one at my local head shop, and one other that was alright. Five weeks into my cigarette free adventure and I'm starting to get over tobacco (but gosh this vanilla blend is still like dessert!)
I guess the reason I asked is the amount of attention clones get here. Someone must have tried them to clone them, after all, and the names and vendor descriptions are a little non-obvious to me. It doesn't help that I've been overseas while this was blowing up the last two years.
Right on. Seems like you're a vanilla enthusiast.... one of the best (if not THE best) vanilla's I've used is called "Holy Vanilla" from DIY Flavor Shack. It's nothing fancy or complex... it just manages to capture a true, rich, full vanilla flavor without any funky overtones. Makes a great base. I have a highly praised "custard clone recipe" bookmarked I'll find once I get home.

It was SO trivial I'm embarrassed to tell the story; no "of course it's not a clone," or "yeah, those cheap Chinese batteries are the best on the market," or anything interesting like that.
When I'm not overseas, I work from a coffee shop near my house, and I walk most days, less than a mile each way, right past the B&M. As it happens, it's also very near the local homeless shelter. I think the front clerk made some assumptions about my economic status and had decided not to be helpful before I got to the counter. I think not believing the original Evod (which they appear to have bought hundreds of,) was the best tank on the market was the straw that broke the camel's back for the guy. I bought a few trivial things anyway.
I came back later for some battery lanyard rings and to see if they'd make me up some unflavored 80% vg juice. He told me they couldn't sell the lanyard rings separately (oddly, they were in a basket marked $0.99,) and that they didn't sell unflavored juice because "you might come back later and tell my boss I sold you juice without enough flavor." Okay, fine. Ebay, Vista Vapors, and Nude Nicotine have taken pretty good care of me since then. I'd actually prefer to buy local, honestly. I did go into their other location once when I was on that side of town, and they seemed great, but it's way out of my way, sadly.
In the meanwhile, I've talked to a lot of confused Evod users at the coffee shop who've gone back to analogs because their Evods have too tight a draw or cracked tank windows, who found they loved my (now given away) t3s', or ordered mini protank 3's after trying mine (I actually kind of like my original Evod for stealth vaping, incidentally.) Not sure I've convinced anyone to drop for a Nautilus yet, but someone came up to show off their iStick this morning.
