Hey guys!
I am thrilled tonight, to launch a feature that I wanted from the beginning. The problem was that it was very very hard to actually make. Or, I could make it, but it would be incredibly hard on the server, and take a long time to execute, leaving the page hanging.
Tonight I cracked it!
I have implemented my most requested feature. The long sought for "What can I make with what I have?!".
Some important things to note:
- Do not be surprised at how little you can make. Remember, if you have 3 flavors, the recipes must contain EXACTLY one or more of these flavors. No more.
- It is really really important that you use the common names in your recipes. "Hunny" (that is used by you alone) is no good, when you really meant "Honey (TPA)" that is used by 171 others.
Also, if you ever used the flavor list or the duplicate finder, you will notice that it is 100 faster now!
Anyway! I hope you like it!
Happy vaping guys!

This is really great, thank you. The only bad thing about the site, both before this feature was added (when you could search by flavor instead) and now, is that there are so many different versions of each flavor. For example, I see four different TFA Dragonfruit flavors, all with different formatting. If that wasn't going on, it would be so much better, imo.
The introduction of this feature will probably lower the frequency of this happening. People will be more inclined to stick to the most popular name so that their recipes can be seen more often.
Also, it isn't really something avoidable. Pretty much any similar recipe site you can find has the same issue.
A cool feature would be to allow a filter to show recipes where you're missing only 1 or 2 of the flavors, but have the majority of them already. This could give some people ideas on what flavors to order next that would work with what they already have.
For that functionality, I feel you can use the already existing "Search by flavor stash". Only it's not one or two missing, but it finds recipes that contains the flavors you choose, but can also include others you don't have.
One feature requests, can you add the ability to change the final volume dynamically so that I don't have to create a 10ml version and a 30ml adaptation of the sample batch?
Thanks for the awesome site!
One thing i'd love to see is a import recipe to "place recipe app name here". That way sittin at my pc browsing i can click a button and send it to my phone.
I'm not sure I understand completely, can you explain?
BTW, if I want to send a link to my phone, I use PushBullet - Or I just memorize the shortlink at the bottom :)
It would have to be supported on app and site to work. I use eliquid calculator. Say i found pink lemonade recipe i wanna try, i press a link that would set the %'s of flavors in eliquid calculator so all thats left to do is set up your nic/pg/vg ratios
How does your rating system work? Is 1 5-star review better than 3 5-star and 1 4-star review? A amazon-like overview would be great.
Amazon does that, and it's wrong.
For recipes I use binomial proportion confidence intervals, specifically the Wilson interval :) Wikipedia - My solution is very similar to what is described here (look for Wilson). This makes ratings actually work :)
I haven't gotten around to implementing it for flavorings...

>
>The Wilson interval is an improvement (the actual coverage probability is closer to the nominal value) over the normal approximation interval and was first developed by Edwin Bidwell Wilson (1927).

>This interval has good properties even for a small number of trials and/or an extreme probability.

Great, I had the same thing in mind. And yes, amazon does it wrong, but I was talking more about the overview. Even if if you're using a great method to sort the receipes, some more detailed view (how many reviews with x star) would be a an even better addition.
