A question about citric acid.
submitted almost 11 years ago by hamdrew729Frugivore

I got 4 oz of powdered citric acid for free. How much would I add to 10ml of PG at 10%? How would it mix, would I need to shake it?

I use 1 gram per 10ml. I think that's about a teaspoon. You will need to shake vigorously, or use a little heat. Make sure it's pure citric acid (no preservatives).

I weighed a gram, was about 1/4 teaspoon.

This would be correct.

I was way off. That's why it's good to use a scale if you have one.

Alright, thank you!

No anti-caking agents either. It will be very sour, so go easy on it. Usually 1 drop per 10ml is good for an enhancer, and if you want a sour vape go with about 4 drops per 10ml.

EDIT: can't type right...

1 drop per ml is more than 4 drops per 10 ml...I'm assuming you mean 1 drop per 10 ml for an enhancer.

This recipe: http://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/2gcdba/persistence_molecules_and_a_legitimate_bombies/

Calls for 1 drop per mL, that's about 4.75%. I've never used citric acid but that seems like a lot.

I got my citric acid today. I took the protective cover off of the top, and tasted the crystals that were sticking to the underside. Reminded me of Warheads!

Because it's partially what makes the Warheads coating :)

It's just that it seems that since I quit smoking, everything tastes 10x what it used to. I made the mistake of eating a mouthful of sour Skittles last night. I got lockjaw... so much more sour than it used to taste, when I was smoking.

okay, I don't know what amount you would want to use, but...

magnetic stirrer!

Okay, so it wouldn't work well for small quantities like 10ml, but if you're mixing larger amounts a magnetic stirrer is a godsend for dissolving when you don't want to apply heat. (they're also awesome for mixing chocolate milk for the kids)

I use a vitamix for chocolate milk for myself. Talk about overkill lol.

9mL PG to ~ 1g citric acid. Magnetic heated stir plate necessary. This is the 10% in PG standard solution. 5% VG or 15% EtOH can also be accomplished.

Or......

I just got my Nude Nicotine 48mg base/PG/VG and all I can say is THANK YOU! I can instantly tell that the retail juices I buy aren't using anything close to the quality product I got in the mail. I swear I saw a small graph somewhere about adding citric acid to juice, something like ".1-5% for pop, .5%-2% for sour" etc etc. Any reccomendations? It's for a Mt. Dew Baja Blast recipe I found, and the lime is there, it just doesn't pop!

start at a half of a percent and work your way up to 2 if necessary :) Baja Blast is citus-y anyways!

MMMMMMMM taco bell....

1gram of citric acid to 9 grams of pg. That is 8.69mL but measuring that will be near impossible at that scale without expensive pipettors.
