First time mix: it worked! Now a few questions
submitted almost 11 years ago by Skiller66

So after lurking for a few months I took the plunge and bought some initial supplies and equipment. I made my first mix of a Vapor Chef black pompom clone and I was very happy with the result. I'm going to do some tweaking on it and see how much closer I can get.

A few questions for this awesome subreddit:

  1. Is there a resource that lists all of the major flavor manufacturers together with ratings/reviews on each of their flavors? There's some threads listed by individual manufacturer on this subreddit, but I couldn't find a good comprehensive resource.

  2. How long does PG, VG, nicotine, and flavorings last? My bottles show 2 years, but is that accurate or is it just a case of they have to put a date on the bottle?

  3. My girlfriend watched me mix my first bottle and had me explain what I was doing. Now she wants a pumpkin spice juice and I do too, it being October and all. Any recipes that don't come out tasting like potpourri?

Thanks!

Flavor Reviews linked in the sidebar is the closest that you're going to find. It's the most comprehensive for any one location. For FA Flavor Reviews, check out HIC's reviews @ www.vapingunderground.com.

Most should last 2 years, nicotine much much longer if properly stored.

It should be noted that nicotine when properly stored only has a shelf life of 2 years. Thats when stored in a freezer in an amber or cobalt bottle. (It's good until it's a dark brown color, indicating its been heavily oxidized. Even then it can still be used.)

That site should have reverse filtering in the stash search. Like "what recipes only have ingredients in my stash?" instead of "what recipes use this ingredient I selected?".

It's tough to get excited about a recipe and realize there is an ingredient missing...

The developer is real active when it comes to changes/suggestions. I know he post here but don't remember the use name.

I know. And I remember this suggestion being made, but I guess nothing came out of it.

It's a shame, as it would improve the usefulness of the site/app tenfold, at least for me.

Flavorings, PG, and VG should be good for quite some time. But I recommend glass for storing Nic and certain tank cracking flavors long term.
