Why is this so cheap? http://www.bulkapothecary.com/raw-ingredients/other-ingredients-and-chemicals/glycerin/?revpage=2#ReviewsArea
because the shipping is so GD expensive.
I built a cart there last week... 1 gal VG, 1 gal PG... they wanted EIGHTY DOLLARS to ship it ground. yes, its 18lbs of product, but I have had heavier packages shipped for much cheaper.
btw- the EIGHTY DOLLAR SHIPPING was the cheapest of the 8 options, with one being overnight, at 180 bucks. HAHAH.
so I had to sign in to get that far, and now I get an email every day asking me to come back and complete my order. they have even gone so far as to offer me 5% off, but that wont make up for EIGHTY DOLLARS SHIPPING... geesh.
ok, sorry. rant over.
its so cheap cause they kill you on shipping.
Just built a cart with 10lbs VG, 8lbs PG, so a gallon or so each, got a shipping rate of $29.48 for UPS ground.
you must live closer to ohio than I do. they have free local pickup... I am in Florida, so I guess they are using true UPS shipping rates.
still you are paying just about double to have it shipped vs. local pick up.
I have a salt water aquarium, and frequently get 5 gallon buckets of salt delivered for that shipping fee. I want to say they are around 60 lbs.
well i'm buying by 55 gallon drum. the shipping for me will around 350 no matter where i get it. i've heard cheap vg can taste bitter.
Get a sample, it can also taste peppery if its sat for too long and picked up moisture
can anyone tell quality from these? Nude nic is twice the price
first - sorry to rant about the shipping prices, your initial question didn't specify that you meant more the quality of the glycerin.
right away from your two pdfs, I can see that Nude specifies that it is Vegetable Glycerin, where BA does NOT specify. I see they offer a lot of soap making supplies there too, it could be that this is not VEG glycerin, but just glycerin/Glycerol, which can be made from animal fats. I am not saying this is the case, but it COULD be. it does say its kosher, but I guess it could come from kosher animal fat. I have heard that the cheaper stuff available over the counter in heath food stores and the like is not 100% vegetable based.
The arsenic in bulk apothecary makes me kinda shy away from it.
I ordered VG from Bulk Apothecary and it arrived today..The company that actually makes it is naturesoil.com... I have read everything on this site about the vg product and says nothing about arsenic....The bottling is much better then ecigexpress and shipping was much cheaper no peppery taste either, I will order from here again! Although lol I bought a gallon so Im good for a bit!
