TFA "EM"?

I am interested in this DIY version of Five Pawns' Fifth Rank. It will be the first liquid I try to DIY, so I am very much a newbie. I am wondering: in the ingredients list, the is "TFA EM" stated. What is "EM"? I know that TFA is "The Flavor Apprentice", but have no idea what EM is and I cannot find the ingredient on the TFA website...

Can anyone shed some light?

And while I have your attention, do you think there might need to be any tweaks to the recipe?

EM is ethyl maltol and is a sweetener type additive. I believe it is labelled as cotton candy by TFA as high amount of it give a cotton candy flavour.

Awesome, thank-you very much for the information. I was actually wondering if the recipe needed any sweetener and I guess ethyl maltol is that sweetener. Cheers!

TFA has EM and Cotton candy. EM is not labeled as Cotton Candy. I use them both.

If I don't have TFA cotton candy can I use LA cotton candy as a replacement?

Low amount of em smooths out a mix once above4% it acts as a sweetener

Hmm... I suppose I will understand what you are saying after getting more into DIY... so, you are meaning that the flavor-mix would be 4% of the entire volume of VG/PG/Nic/Flavour? And if the flavor-mix goes over 4%, ethyl maltol is needed to smooth it out?

I wouldn't say it's needed. I use it at 2% to tone down stronger high notes and bring the lighter notes in the foreground a little bit. It acts like more of a sweetener at 4% and up IMO.

Is that 4% example you give using 10% EM? I have 5% EM from Nude Nic, so I'd assume it sweetens at 8% based on this.

Yes, I mix EM crystals at 10% so you should be correct.
