I've been getting into tasting whiskeys lately, and last night at the bar I ordered a Jameson neat, and the guy sitting next to me gives me a nod and says, "nice order."
We got to talking about whiskey, and I learned that he is a chef as well as a supertaster.
Eventually I took a little toot on my Nemmy and he goes, "Damn, that smells good, what the hell is that thing?"
I showed him how it worked and whatever, and when he asked me what flavor my juice was, I handed him my mod and said, "Why don't you tell me Mr. Supertaster."
He took a good fat pull, I could see the gears turning as he exhaled, and he goes, "Well I'll be damned if that don't taste just like a slice of Red Velvet Cake."
!!!!!
I let him try the other juice I had on me, and he nailed it yet again, peaches and cream.
They were both my own DIYs. Made me pretty proud to get the approval of a supertaster.
Cool story. Mind sharing the red velvet formula you use?
Yeah I think I've posted it before, but here it is again. It's pretty simple:
6.5% Red Velvet Cake (TFA)
6.5% Cream Cheese Icing (LA)
3% Cake Batter (CAP)
.5% Sweet Cream (TFA
It's actually a little heavier on the cream cheese icing than I would like, that stuff is pretty overpowering, so I might try and drop the icing and up either the RVC or the cake batter.
Ah, probably should have checked first, but thanks for reposting and the added comments. Might personally prefer it that way as I love cc frosting.
TVC told me that my coffee is delicious. So that's my version of your story.
Any advice on a base coffee flavor? Haven't found any good ones and my own coffee extract flavors taste pretty bad :/
Do you mind posting your peaches and cream recipe?
Hey sorry I didn't check reddit until this morning. I am at work right now so I don't have it on me. You might be able to find it somewhere in my history, though I don't think I actually posted it I just commented on the recipe that I took and modified. I will post it when I get home in a few hours.
I can wait until you post it after you get home
Alright here ya go, Peach Panty Dropper:
8% Peach (TFA)
6% Vanilla Cream (TFA)
3% Bavarian Cream (TFA)
2% Marshmallow (LA)
1% Sweet Cream (TFA)
Definitely gonna wanna let this one steep for a while, or at least give it a few hot water baths, as the recipe is a bit more on the complex side and uses 20%. I've also decided I'm not too fond of TFA Vanilla Cream, so if you have Capella or something else I might recommend using that.
Let me know what you think.
