TL;DR: Trying to make a Baja Blast type flavor; v0.1 and v0.3 are closer than anything using blueberry by far; the 0.2s are good but way off target; hopefully someone will enjoy this as-is or, better yet, be inspired to improve it and share!
So I've seen a few threads out there about trying to replicate the soda's flavor, but sadly all I've found in all my digging are some taste-good-but-way-off-mark recipes interspersed with a couple almost taunting suggestions about the recipes being off the mark from people trying to get you to buy their liquid. Tried a mix of three of the ones I found (5% citrus punch, 5% blueberry extra, 1% key lime, 1% honeydew) - it's actually pretty great, but I have it saved as "blewkeydew" to avoid confusion because it's just not right for what it was going for.
So I did that, and it was pretty good, but then a few weeks back I was drinking some coconut+lemon+lime soda that has some remarkable similarities to Baja Blast, and it got me thinking - pretty sure there's a little coconut in here. Further trips to Taco Bell and careful tasting (best I can do anyway, I'm somewhat sensitive to tastes but I haven't really developed and I'm convinced there's a tiny bit in there. Other things I noticed, the lime shows through more than it does in regular Dew, and there are a couple other notes, one sort of like pineapple and one which is only a little there but side-by-side slightly resembled the smell of TFA honeydew, and I saw that's noted in a couple of those recipes.
Anyway, I decided to just go it alone for a few iterations and see what I'd get:
Baja Ráfaga|v0.1|v0.2.1|v0.2.2|v0.3 ---|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--: TFA Citrus Punch|5%|7%|7%|10% TFA Honeydew|3%|2%|2%|- CAP Canteloupe|-|-|-|4% TFA Coconut Extra|3%|1%|-|3% TFA Coconut Candy|-|3%|5%|- TFA Pineapple|2.5%|2%|2%|1% MBV Key Lime|1.5%|1%|1%|2%
v0.1 (10mL, 10mg/mL, 60%VG) was pretty perfumey at first, still pretty bad the next day, but I tried it a week later and was pretty impressed. Not there but actually decently close. The lemon-lime soda flavor was shy, though, not distinct like the soda.
v0.2.1 (10mL, 10mg/mL, 50/50), and
v0.2.2 (10mL, 10mg/mL, 60%VG) were made before I'd let v0.1 steep a week. Both came out pretty good, still good after a steep, but much further from the mark than v0.1. Unfortunately I did not know that coconut candy was a sort of toasted/caramel-y coconut flavor, and I'm not even sure what made me think I should cut the key lime but I'm pretty sure that was a mistake as well. The dew flavor was still on the weak side, too, but at least here was one area where I'd improved over the first attempt.
v0.3 (10mL, 9mg/mL, max VG) using what I'd learned from the previous mistakes I tweaked what I thought needed it and was ready to make a new one if need be (time will tell). I decided that, as I'd just gotten Cap's summer seven in, I'd try their cantaloupe instead of TFA's honeydew. Unlike v0.1 this is actually pretty damn good with minimal steep time - mixed this Sunday night, only just tried it a bit over an hour ago. I think I'm closer here but I'd love a second opinion on this. Still a bit perfumey but not as bad as the others right off the bat, the lime and Mtn. Dew flavors are showing through like they should now and without sitting, and the cantaloupe is really adding something special - I think I might actually like this more than my target flavor.
I may wind up just sticking with v0.3 as-is, I may wind up tweaking it, I don't know yet, I just thought I'd share in the hopes that someone else will like it as-is or be inspired to tweak it for themselves. If you're in the latter category, I would love to hear any suggestions for potential v0.4.# experiments (list of flavors I have to work with here) and I'll report back with my findings!
Unfortunately I don't have all of the flavors here but it looks good. Great job on posting all of your notes. That kind of thing is very helpful to people trying help you as well as others who may be using, or thinking about using the same flavors.

If you're at all close feel free to try with what you've got & post that back, too. Worst case you've got a novel flavor, and you should be able to achieve at least a similar flavor profile with the right tweaks!

Thanks, but for sake of full disclosure YSK that's actually just a summary of them - most projects have several notebook pages' worth of notes, from exactly how I mixed it (e.g. Baja-v0.3: 1.11gN 8.96gVG 0.93g-mtdw 0.4g-cntp 0.31g-cocx 0.2g-kylm 0.1g-pnpl) to notes on taste delineated by how soon after the mix it was (for 0.2.1 and 0.2.2 I have notes for <1h, 2-6h, 1-4d, >5d and >2w) and each time I do that I write any ideas for tweaks down (even the shitty ones) as well. It's a bit overwhelming even for me to review my own notes and I figured since I already wrote half a book giving background I should give an extremely abridged version of my notes.

Thanks & glad you agree, this is precisely why I included it! :)
Have you tried the Baja Blast flavor from Flavor West? Smells spot on to me, I have a bottle but never did anything with it.
Link please? I just searched FW's site and I'm not finding it at all.
Sorry for the delay. This is the website on the front page of FlavorWest, they sell smaller sizes of FlavorWest's flavoring plus many more, I'm unsure of the vendors. In the drop down you can scroll down to "Soda- Mt. Dew Baha Blast Type". It pretty much has every flavor of Mountain Dew ever.

I made this tonight I substituted the cantaloupe with guava it turned out pretty good reminds me of a mix between mount bakers bloodbath and spew combined
Try about 10% Citrus punch, 4% blueberry extra, 2-3% key lime, .5-1% coconut and 2% lemonade. Really close IMO. Try it without the coconut and lemonaide first to see how you like it.
I'm certain blueberry isn't right, like I said I tried that and as great as it is it's way off mark to my tastes.
Yours sounds really good though, I'd like to try it but I don't have lemonade - would a straight sub for TFA lemon work in your opinion?
You have to use either bilderberry or blueberry extra. Candy or plain blueberry tastes odd. You can use lemon I guess, but might have to increase the amount. TFA lemon has changed recipes to something different.
I actually have a recipe for it that I have compared side by side with a drink that was nearly exact. But then again TFA has changed, so it might not be the same taste as it used to. Just try messing around with them! Lol
