I've been lurking this sub via my multireddit for a while, contemplating taking the jump. I put it off, because I was fairly happy with the price i was paying for my ejuice, and thought I was getting a good deal at ~£19/100ml (tbh, this IS a pretty good deal for premixed juice)
I finally took the plunge, and have just mixed up my first batch of my ADV (7.5% Capella VC, 1.5% TPA Dulce de Leche, 0.5% Ethyl Maltol). It's IDENTICAL, and is costing me around £1.66/100ml
So thank you from a long time lurker. Lurking here and reading the sub for a couple months really gave me the confidence to go ahead and start DIY.
Love you all.
Good times. That looks like a take on Grant's Vanilla Custard.
Yeah, it is.
I tried a couple of different custard recipes from what was in stock at 8bitvape using their mixing tool, and purchased a few different custards around the web, and this one just really stuck with me as the best. I found it on some forum somewhere, can't remember exactly where.
I'm going to experiment with some TPA egg nog in this mix, but for now, I'm just enjoying my first batch.
I know this is more involved and requires a lot more flavorings but this has been the only thing I've vaped for 3 weeks now

I also omit the DIY flavorshack holy vanilla because I do not have it
I am a DIYer myself and love it, just like cooking up your favorite dinner just how you want it. But I have seen it mentioned before and think about it a lot, are we hurting the juice companies who are going to need every penny they can get to fight this battle that is starting to heat up? Big tobacco has something like 10000000X the capital ($$$) that any of these companies have. What do you guys think.
EDIT: Probably for a different thread....gotta try out your ADV recipe you have, sounds good :)
The custard is good :) give it a try.
With regards to the juice companies, I really don't think so. I know I'm new to DIY, but I see DIYers as a subset of a subset of vapers. Even the ECR community can be seen as a small percentage of vapers. 99% of vapers I've met in the wild are happily puffing away on their egos or cigalikes, Even the occasional mech mod, or ~15 watt device I've seen, when striking up a conversation, they tell me about where they buy their juice from.
I think the percentage of vapers mixing their own must be incredibly low. I don't have figures for this, but I doubt it's enough to make too much of a difference.
Just an FYI, custard flavors have some things in them that can damage lung function / cause popcorn lung (those same chemicals are present in cigs in much larger quantities). If you go on TFA's website they have the best explanation IMO. Capella's VC-2 is supposed to not have them, but according to TFA there's no way to get those flavors without those chemicals.
FWIW, I vape (and mix) custard flavors. I just think as Vapers we all deserve the information about our flavorings.
