Pina Colada without a Pina Colada flavor?
submitted about 11 years ago by TheAyatollahOfTrolla

I've been trying to make a good Pina Colada flavor for a while but have been trying to do so without a actual Pina Colada flavor as a base. Is this a futile effort or is it actually possibly? I should say I've been doing everything with TFA up to this point but I'm open to suggestions.

I've tried a bunch of different vendor's Pina Colada juice for comparison and I just can't get close to anything that tastes good.

EDIT

So the recipe I had gotten to, that was modified from soemthing I had either seen here or on e-liquidreciepes, was this

Pineapple 6%

Graham Cracker 2%

Bav Cream 5%

Coconut Extra 2%

Whenever I make a juice stemming from a food or drink, I just break down what the ingredients in the actual food/drink and go from a there. What's in a Pina Colada?

  • Coconut
  • Pineapple
  • Rum

I'd say maybe try a little koolada to mimic the iciness, maybe a little cream to smooth everything out.

Good luck!

EDIT: It would help if you could share some of you no-go recipes so we could see what flavors/percentages you're using and give suggestions based on that.

I made a decent Piña Colada with TFA flavors.

Is that like what you've been trying?

I haven't tried a rum flavor, maybe that's what's missing. I didn't think rum is that strong but your recipe is close to what I've been trying.

It is made with white rum, so without it.. It would lack one of the major ingredients which would likely make it lacking in one of the major flavours. :)

Try making a piña colada yourself with coconut and pineapple. Then add a tiny bit of actual piña colada flavoring to tie it together. You'll be surprised.

That's a shame you are having problems getting your juice right. For me I just use Inawera Pina Colada @ 7% with a little EM and its fantastic. I have 3-4 friends that love it. I guess everyone's tastes are a bit different. Just keep at it and sooner or later you will get it just right.

I just got my bottle of Inawera Pina Colada. I mixed it at 10 drops per 10 ml. bottle; about 3%. First impressions, no steeping, I taste honeysuckle. I have high hopes for this flavor. No one has mentioned steep times for this Inawera flavor; do you think it just needs to steep, I need more flavoring or am I going to have to "cook" this with additional flavors?
