submitted about 11 years ago by Grimmus2

Iv'e been using vg nic for awhile with no issues. I am ready to order some more and was wondering if there are any pros or cons between vg or pg.

I personally prefer PG because it is less viscous.

We prefer PG as a solvent (if a recipe will allow for it). More aqueous (less viscous) = better measurements, less residual material in cylinders,etc.... Longer shelf life as it doesn't "pocket" O2. Also mixes MUCH easier to minimize the risk of a unevenly distributed solution.

Tl;dr - PG solvent = better (if your recipe isn't max VG and can accommodate such)

PS - 5050 is a nice medium :) Even 70VG!

Ordered some 50/50 from you just the other day! This is just the info I was hoping for.

I ordered 70/30 nic and base from you guys. Figured by the time I mix in flavors I end up with about 60/40. Makes the math easy for my addled brain.

Even though the majority of the liquid I blend is >70+% VG, I purchase 50/50 NIC base. It measures more easily in graduated cylinders, and I decreases the amount of straight PG in my liquid.

I don't know why I chose vg nic, but I did, and I'm happy with it. I think because I thought maybe the vg nic would be smoother than pg nic.

I use vg nic for the specific purpose of making everything max vg.

Edit: because I don't care for throat hit.

I've always used VG nic base since most of my recipes are VG-heavy. But when it comes down to it I'm only using 1-3mL of nic base depending on how big a bottle I'm mixing, so it matters much less. I'll probably grab PG next order so it's easier to work with (refer to what /u/NudeNicotine said below).

If it works for you why change?

Not saying I'm going to change. I just wanted to see what other DIY'ers opinions were. From the responses that I see I'm a stick with VG. Always learning.

A redditor brought up that a VG based nic solution is safer to handle since it's thicker and less chance of it splashing. Might be more important if you get high concentration nicotine, ie 10%.

i shoot for max vg, 2-4 coils give me the thick pillowy clouds i want. i now take lung inhales, and no longer chase the throat hit and heavy amounts of nic. 6mg 100% vg gives me all the nic i need, and the flavor is still there.
