Sanity Check - Mix 2 juices, total flavoring from each is halved in the final mix?
submitted about 11 years ago by Ludacon

A Friend mixed two of my new recipes together in his atty and said it tasted like heaven, thus asked me to recreate it. So i figured i could skip the 3 step process of making each juice and then mixing and mix it straight up. But then i confused myself trying to figure out if the flavoring levels would be doubled or halved.

For instance, if juice A is 5% caramel. And juice b is 5% vanilla. Mixed would it be

2.5% + 2.5% vanilla

or

5% + 5% vanilla

So - let's math the shit out of this - take some nice, round numbers.

100ml of Juice A contains 5% Caramel so, 5ml Caramel

100ml of Juice B contains 5% Vanilla, so, 5ml Vanilla

200ml of Juice A+B would contain 5ml Caramel, giving you 2.5% Caramel, and 5ml of Vanilla, giving you 2.5% Vanilla.

Total flavorings still equal 5%, with 2.5% of each.

Good luck!

When mixed together, it becomes 2.5+2.5%. Yes, the percentages are cut in half.
