What are some recommended scales to use when mixing by weight, and where can I find some good information on this method of mixing.

I don't mind paying a little extra for a decent and accurate scale, I just can't afford a lab grade scale though. What are your recommendations?

If you're mixing for sale, buy a higher capacity/better scale.

I found it difficult to cut through the hardware 'love posts' as well when buying one.

The above scale works perfectly for me and I have run multiple tests on it to compare to my volumetric measurements. It works, it is a joy to use, it is accurate to 0.01 gram, it is cheap. Test with nickels (5g) before dicking around with calibration, mine was dead on.

Grab a bag of 50 10ml bottles (~$10) from Amazon and go hog wild. Then come back and give us some tips and recipes.

Get mixing.

I have the aws acp-200 and it works well. My problem with it was the auto shut off. There were too many times that I was at the tail end or just finished weighing a flavor and it turned off. I ended up getting the aws lb-501 from amazon which I saw someone here suggest. It has a longer shutoff timer but can also be plugged in, which as far as I can tell disables the auto shut off. It also comes with calibration weights which is nice. In the end pretty much any 0.01g scale should be good enough for weighing, but just know that auto shut off is real and it's no joke.

It's funny. I own that one linked too. It's auto shut off seems so intermittent. I'll hit tear, slowly putting a flavor or something in, and it'll shut off. Other times I'll go to my computer to adjust some percentages, come back, and it'll still be on. Damn thing confuses me. I'll look into the 501 next pay day.

I bought some cheap digital scale off eBay for $10. Make sure you get some that has the longest auto-shutoff time you can that has 0.01 resolution; accurate to the hundredths of a gram.
