An update on the Deadly Sin clone: it's done. Again.

First off, an apology. I submitted a final recipe to the clone thread based off of another redditor's opinion that it was a perfect match, before I tried it myself. Once my Yellow Cake came in and I made a batch, my heart sank. It wasn't it. To anyone that bought flavorings for that recipe - I'm sorry - but you'll find a use for that YC, it's a great flavoring.

So, I kept plugging. I tasted a drop off of my finger and definitely tasted butterscotch. I tried using TFA's, that didn't cut it. I ordered FW's, mixed batch #5 (far left) with my best educated guess : 8% RY4 Double, 8% Butterscotch, 4% Cinnamon Danish Swirl. The flavorings were definitely right... but the heavy butter scent left in the air wasn't right, nor was the scotch tape/chemical taste of the unsteeped RY4. I decided I would make a few variations and give them the quick steep: 4 hours on a 150F coffee warmer. You can see how they then compare to a bottle of 5 month old GLV DS (far right).

#6 is 10% BS, 5% RY4D, 5% CDS.

#7 is 10% RY4D, 5% BS, 5% CDS.

#8 is 5% of all 3.

I tried #7 first, thinking it was the most likely to be it. First puff I thought I nailed it. After awhile though, that RY4 off-taste started to peek through. Next logical step then was to try the lower RY4D #8... It's perfection. Even that little bit of yeastiness when chain-vaping shows up, which didn't in any other. I tried #6 and the steeped #5 anyway, knowing I had already found the winner. I will amend the recipe in the clone thread, and move the old recipe to a comment for archival purposes.

If you like bakery vapes and you haven't had DS, or if you have, buy these flavorings, make this recipe, and enjoy some fantastic juice on the cheap.

TL:DR

Clone of GLV's Deadly Sin

  • 5% RY4 Double (The Flavor Apprentice)

  • 5% Butterscotch (Flavor West)

  • 5% Cinnamon Danish Swirl (Capella)

  • Sucralose to taste - I used 2 drops per 10ml (.175%).

Steep for 2 weeks, or 4 hours at 150F for best taste.

EDIT: See comment below, may require some Cap Vanilla Custard. I have "#9" on the quick steep now. Going to get some sleep, and will report back when I wake up and try it.

Thinking out loud: I need to try 6%6%6%. Wouldn't that be just too appropriate.

EDIT: After fatiguing the shit out of my tastebuds on #8, I loaded up GLV's DS and all I can taste is Cap's Vanilla Custard. This is interesting because it could mean the creator Jeremy wasn't being totally truthful about the 3 flavorings from 3 manufacturers thing. While I don't feel like it's missing when I vape #8, it's enough to make me want to whip up a batch including 5% Cap VC and see what happens. I'll amend the recipe... again... if it's an improvement. Sigh.

Calling someone a liar based on your tastebuds not tasting what that person said they used in a recipe is douchbaggery!

Like it is often mentioned, everyone's taste is different and two people could vape out of the same bottle and it taste different to each.

Easy there turbo. Just making the observation that if a fourth is in there, the restrictions of "3 from 3" go out the window. Maybe it was 3 originally and later modified, maybe I'm delusional and it's just 3, or maybe he was trying to protect his intellectual property. Maybe. I sure as fuck would.

Still vaping on my last test. Subbed in BM+ and upped it to 6%, dropped the other 2 baccos to 4%, threw the leftover % into banana. Not much difference, but it doesn't seem to turn south as quickly.

Next step is probably seeing how low I can take the bacco percentages and still have it taste right. Some of the less desirable backnotes coming through might just be overflavoring... and it's hell on wicks.

After trying this I have to say that 5% RY4D is too much. I will drop that down to 2% or 3% and add that amount back in as graham cracker. I think that would really do it some good.

That RY4D weird taste is not there in deadly sin, not at a 5% level anyways.

I think I lowered the CDS to 3% and added 2% CAP VC1, got tired of the profile and stopped tweaking.
