I've only really had the Mothers Milk clone and wow! I love it more than the original. Just curious as to what your favorite clone recipe is. (The reason I ask about clone recipes specifically is because we can all relate and compare them to the original where as an obscure DIY we can't really know because everyone's tastes are so subjective. )
Its painfully simple, but my copy of fuzion vapors endless summer: 5%Tfa lemonade 5%tfa strawberry ripe
I'd go with my take on Honey Pearry:
Adjusted percentages a smidge versus other posted recipes but hands down my favorite. It's not a dead on clone, super close, but I like it a hell of a lot more.
- 6% Pear (TFA)
- 5% Sweet Strawberry (CAP)
- 4% Honey Dew (TFA)
- 3% Apricot (LA)
I'm going to give this a try. I've been absolutely loving the other honey pearry clone but this sounds so good.
Which one is "the other"?
From memory it's something like 9% Pear 6% Strawberry and 6% Honeydew all from TFA
Edit
Just checked and that was a little off! It's 6.5%, 3.5% and 3.5%.
Don't get me wrong this stuff is really good but I'm curious to see what apricot does to this juice. I'm also ready to try something else besides TFA.
Mine is a simple Snake Oil clone that I modified slightly:
All TFA flavors
-
Pear 5%
-
Dulce de Leche 4.5%
-
Coconut Candy 4%
-
Bavarian Cream 3.5%
-
Ethyl Maltol 1 drop per 10ml
I REALLY like coconut so the Coco Candy % is upped. In some batches I enjoy putting in a little orange and Spearmint. No more than 1% of each.
What is your Mother's Milk recipe? I've seen several different ones.
How long did you let this steep, and what is your steeping method? I made something similar but without EM and a lower % of coconut extra. It's been a few days and the pear is still overpowering and tastes artificial or something.
I let it cure in a water bath in the crock pot set to warm (145 degrees) for about 10 hours, shaking every other hour. Then I let the bottle sit in a cool, dark closet with the cap off for about 12 hours.
Depending on your PG/VG ratio you have to adjust the flavors. I do 20/80 and the flavor, for me, is right on. I love pear and coconut so I upped the percentage. I recommend lowering both percentage if you get a chemical taste. Pear can give a chemical taste to some people, but I don't taste it. To each their own.
