Just made a batch of key lime and orange cream(TFA). Tasting right away it tastes great!....as long as I don't inhale. The exhale has a weird taste. Does it just need to steep?
Someone explained this in another thread some time ago. Different tastes are noticed on the inhale and the exhale because of the way taste buds work. I know I'm not doing it justice. Someone else can probably give you more details. Just something you will always need to deal with when mixing.
Yep. I make a banana pudding that I love.
Inhale is sweet banana. Exhale is a thick rich pudding like taste.
I wish I could tone down the richness a little gonna mess with my percentages tonight.
Would you mind posting the recipe? Sounds tasty.
Banana 8%
Cheesecake 6%
Bavarian cream 6%
I do max VG as a lot of PG hurts my stomach. So that's why my percentages ate too high. I'm thinking of dropping cheesecake down a tad.
Also you need to steep it or the banana will be too strong.
I put water in a bowl and let it go in the microwave for two minutes. Take it out and put the juice bottle in the water until the water gets room temperature.
I find that speeds it to a good steep. And you can get the idea of the taste. Let it sit one more week and it will be at it's height. Still needs work. But it's a good vape.
All juice has to steep, it takes time for all of the ingredients to become one, you're likely getting a different percentage of flavor, pg & vg then what you mixed, because they havent had time to combine. . Buy chance is the juice still clear? Usually once steeping has occurred you will notice the juice is darker.
Pretty clear. It tasted good right of te bat the first time. But maybe since this is a bigger batch it needs to steep longer.
I haven't tried TFA key lime, but have tried a few other brands. There is a definite weird taste on the inhale with a lot of lime flavors I have tried. It may be the same problem with TFA. Maybe they taste good in food/drink but some flavors just don't vape well...
As another data point, I have used TFA Key Lime and TFA Orange Cream both separately and together (though together I had Key Lime at 8% and Orange Cream at .5% as an accent flavor) and I have never noticed anything odd on the exhale or any odd flavors at all. I think it is quite tasty. I also found it very vapeable after a warm bath and solid shake.
I used a lot more than .5% lol I think it was 8% at least
I've gone through my notes and I've only ever used Orange Cream as accents, never more than 1%. Maybe that tastes funny at higher percentages?
What are the percentages?
I find TFA key lime to have a distinct aftertaste. I've tried recipes even at .5% and can taste a harsh note towards the end. However, I have heard from a few friends that key lime seems to lose some of it's 'oomph' over time. I think steeping it will bring it to where it should be.
While I don't have a bad aftertaste from Key lime, I will say fresh mixed it tends to be harsh on the exhale. A few days of steeping and it calms down. Another way I have found to mellow it early is just to pair it with something that smooths out the flavor. I've had great success with Capellas Sweet Strawberry and even adding a bit of marshmallow to help cut through it in some blends.
Try key lime and nectarine plus a little lemon should give you the flavor your going for. Most the TFA and cream flavors don't Vape that great both ways.
