Hey everyone, I wanted to report back great results (I think at least) from my first day of making my own e-juice! I was on the fence about starting DIY e-juice until I joined and read through this sub-reddit. Everyone on here was super friendly, helpful and had awesome ideas/tips to make this something I felt comfortable doing. So thank you fellow DIYers! You guys made me start this up and I am so fricking glad I did!!
I only use VG, VG based nic and flavoring... but I have also only made like 70ml of juice so far so I haven't really went too deep with it yet! But here it how I started.
I went ahead and took all of the flavors I got and made a 10ml sample of juice standalone flavors (TFA's Juicy Peach, Ripe Strawberry, Green Apple, PIneapple, Blueberry (extra), Mandarin Orange and I mixed up a Berry Apple Blue what I called it)
The %s varied depending on what others recommended, but for my first creation creation - Berry Apple Blue - I mixed 8% Blueberry (extra) 5% Green Apple & 3% Ripe Strawberry and 1 drop of the sweetener that I ordered (not sure of the name at the moment but I will be sure to edit this when I do).
I love the green apple standalone, the blueberry tastes pretty good but I am sure it will get better with a little aging. The Berry Apple Blue is interesting so far... it is not the greatest juice ever, but at the same time I made it at 7pm central time and vaped it immediately after, without any aging really. So I am going to shake and shake and shake that bad boy while letting it age for about 4-5 days and try it again.
I love this DIY though, I am already fricking stoked to let people try my juice that cost me a whopping $1 for 10ml probably! I wanted to say thank you again for everyone and anyone that submitted a DIY waklthrough, tips or tricks to help me get started on this awesome hobby! I can't wait to post mroe and see what everyone else comes up with!
Congrats! Sounds like you're off to a really good start :) My first shipment of DIY stuff should be showing up Monday.
What's the purpose of sweetener (ok, dumb question. Does it have any purpose aside from sweetening?) and how do you know when it should be added?
Honestly I have no idea... I know that it is used (sparingly) to help add a little extra sweetness to certain flavors. I used one or two drops depending on how the flavoring smelled and tasted (1 little drop on my finger). But just experiment with it :)
Congrats. I'm also in my first week for DIYing and it's going great. So far, I'm only mixing one flavor with nic, PG, and VG.
Yeah I have found that so many people recommend starting that way to allow you to see how the flavor profile works with your individual tastes. I love the Green Apple that I made, its TFA if you like fruity flavors I would definitely recommend it (12%).
Good luck and hopefully we will be comparing and sharing recipes sooner than later!
I've just been mixing tobaccos (D-ry4, USA blend, M-type, etc) and cinnamon Danish, but I have a fruit blend I want to try. Mango, pineapple, and strawberry. Are you happy with 12% total flavor?
Yeah I really do like certain standalones at 12% - the juicy peach and green apple are both solid at 12%. I just made two more mixes here are the recipes thank used. They both taste good freshly mixed but I gave them a hot bath and am letting them cool in individual baggies in a drawer. Both use only TFA flavors
Berry Apple Blue - 8% Blueberry Extra 5% Green Apple 3% Ripe Strawberry 2 drops of sweetner (10ml)
Tropical Tornado 8% pineapple 6% mandarin orange 4% ripe strawberry 2 drops of sweetner (10mg)
