I found a few recipies I would like to try with Mt bakers build your own. However some recipies were written in % and I don't know how to convert that to the system used by mt baker. Could a newb please get some help from this awesome community? :)
Also if you have ever used this service before and have a favorite recipe please share.
The recipes here are expressed in percentages of the overall mix. I just checked the MBV site and see that their mix your own option is expressed in "parts." Looking at the 15ml option, they allow you to mix the flavors in six parts of the overall flavoring. The consensus seems to be that MBV mixes at 15% overall. Lets look at a recipe from the sidebar :
Honey Pearry Clone - 6% pear - 3% strawberry - 3% honey dew.
First, let's add up the percentages .... 6+3+3=12 so this would be 12% of the overall flavor. MBV is going to give you 15%, but this part should be OK. They give you 6 parts. OK, so take the 12% overall and divide by those six parts.to get 2. 6/2=3 so we need 3 parts pear. 3/2=1.5 strawberry. 3/2=1.5 Honey Dew. Given that you can only use whole units, you'd need to decide how to distribute the uneven part. You could move to 2 strawberry and 1 Honey Dew or 1 Strawberry and 2 Honey Dew.
The MBV mix would have 3% more flavoring than the original recipe called for there isn't much you can do about that.
