So I've been through all of SB's liquids and none of them really stood out to me except Derailed. I love the in your face banana and the nut bread and the spice so I've been trying hard to get it close and I'm coming up ever so short.
Here's the recipe I've got so far:
TFA Banana Cream 1%
TFA Banana Nut Bread %7
Cap Banana %3
TFA Cinnamon Sugar Cookie %4
After about 8 hours of Ultrasonic steeping its....not bad but lacking the punch you in the face banana I'm looking for. I have a bottle of SB's derailed that I'm comparing mine to and it smells almost spot on for the original. But the taste is lacking something. I've tried higher % on the Cap Banana and it doesn't seem to do it either.
Thoughts?
Use ripe banana.... That is THE in your face banana
I just made this and incorporated a couple of the suggestions from the comments. My recipe was:
Flavor|Percentage --------|--------------- TFA Banana Cream|1% TFA Banana Nut Bread|7% Cap Ripe Banana|3% TFA Cinnamon Sugar Cookie|4% TFA Horchata|1 drop per 10 mL
The flavor profile is absolutely spot on. I have a bottle of the real thing, and the only difference is that the clone could use a bit more of the flavor...not sure if it's the nic base I'm using or what, but in the next bottle I'm going to increase the overall percentage of the first four flavors from 15% to 17 or 18%, keeping the same proportions. I'm going to keep the TFA Horchata the same.
This is awesome though...for the price of 2 bottles of Derailed I have enough supplies to make 1600 mls. I've tried DIY before, but due to flavor contamination and my own ignorance it was never as good or better than buying pre-made from vendors. This is a whole new world. Thanks guys!
Up the banana cream to 5% and add 1% TFA Horchata, 2% or so of CAP Vanilla custard or french vanilla, and like 2 drops EM per 10ml to this and you might be ball park.
I've not tried this yet, but it's what I would try. :)
I also agree with horchata, but 1% is way too much. 1 drop per 10ml is plenty.
Ok so yeah tried that, really sweet and creamy less like Derailed. Not bad but kind of that bland sweet thing going on. Probably going to try it with .5% like 3tern1ty suggested.
I have made a recipe I think taste considerably close to Derailed. I can vape a 30 ml bottle of SB Derailed in a few days. I used a different set of ingredients that taste really close to the original. TFA Banana Foster ,TFA Cinnamon Danish, CAP Suger Cookie, TFA Vanilla Cupcake, TFA Graham Cracker. I tried to base the main ingredient off the Snicker doodle and then added the Banana Foster, And it shares the unique taste of Derailed. I currently have 120 ML steeping as we speak. I hope this helps you get closer to the taste your looking for .Steeping and getting the right amounts are vital .
Excellent. I've got everything there except the bananas foster. In your blend do you feel the banana 'pops' as much as SB's? Because my blend does not have that aggressive banana and I was about to order TPA's ripe banana.
