So I've been messing around with making a Five Pawns Grandmaster clone. I've looked at every recipe I could find, and used it as a starting point, then made some little tweaks here and there. Had my wife administer a blind taste test on me with the real deal, and this last DIY batch. This is my best one yet.
I made 30ml (12mg nic) of this one @ 60/40 pg/vg. It works better in a kayfun this way.
-
TFA Graham Cracker - 1ml
-
TFA Caramel Original - 1ml
-
TFA Peanut Butter - 0.9ml
-
CAP Peanut Butter - 1ml
-
TFA Vanilla Swirl - 0.6ml
-
CAP Vanilla Custard - 1ml
-
TFA Banana Cream - 3ml
-
TFA Cotton Candy (EM) - 0.3ml
-
PG - 3.6ml
-
VG - 12ml
-
Nic (Nude Nic - 60mg in 100% PG) - 6ml
It's a bit darker than the real Grandmaster, but only because I ran out of Graham Cracker clear and used regular old Graham Cracker.
So...if you're a grandmaster fan, whip up a batch and tell me what you think!
- EDIT (Nov. 7, 2014): So an update on this... because I still see it quoted on sites here and there.
What I've been doing lately is mixing up the flavor base separately and then throwing it into eJuice Me Up as a single flavoring at about 20%. And after a long steep, I've knocked down each of the peanut butters by .3%.
I also made up a 30ml batch and replaced the EM with 2 drops of sucralose (10% solution in PG). It's not bad at all.
Finally got around to ordering the flavorings and making this.
Wow. I think the Cap/TFA PB combo is exactly what all the other GM clones were missing. I made mine with graham cracker clear (no taste difference as far as I'm aware) and 5% saline in the base. This stuff is amazing. Can't wait to see what its like after steeping although I doubt the 30ml bottle is going to make it more than a few days.
Seriously, nice job man. Have some gold as a thanks for saving me like $60/month!
This is the first time I'm see this but have given it some thought; two of the same flavors from two different companies. Mixing the subtle differences of the same flavor. Bravo to you for having the patience to separate the two and experimenting enough to mix them together to find the flavor you're looking for. Quite frankly I get a headache just thinking about it. Lol.
I have Cap Peanut Butter but not TFA. Maybe I could up the percentage on the Cap PB?
Yeah, you can totally use all CAP PB. I've just found that CAP is a bit more sweet, and TFA is a bit more "nutty"...if that makes sense.
If you're going to use all CAP PB, you may want to put like 1 or 2 drops less EM in there. If it's not sweet enough, you can always add another drop of EM after the fact.
Do you happen to have the percentages of all the flavors by any chance?
Yeah, roughly...
- TFA Graham Cracker - 3%
- TFA Caramel Original - 3%
- TFA Peanut Butter - 2.8%
- CAP Peanut Butter - 3%
- TFA Vanilla Swirl - 2%
- CAP Vanilla Custard - 3%
- TFA Banana Cream - 10%
- TFA Cotton Candy (EM) - 1%
No way that steeps well your flavor percentage is over 30%. So far all my flavors become muted after a steep if I go to 20%
1ml/30ml = 3.33%
.9ml/30ml = 3%
.6ml/30ml = 2%
3ml/30ml = 10%
.3ml/30ml = 1%
this recipe appears to have a total of ~30% flavoring
Plugging this into dot1ml, the percentages are approximately (the 3.5 is slightly high, it might be 3.4 or 3.3):
- TFA Graham Cracker - 3.5%
- TFA Caramel Original - 3.5%
- TFA Peanut Butter - 3%
- CAP Peanut Butter - 3.5%
- TFA Vanilla Swirl - 2%
- CAP Vanilla Custard - 3.5%
- TFA Banana Cream - 10%
- TFA Cotton Candy (EM) - 1%
>Had my wife administer a blind taste test on me with the real deal
Could you tell it from the original? If so, what were the differences?
The difference was so subtle that it was barely noticeable. At the risk of sounding like a pompous ass, there was something about the banana note that was just a hair different. But it was close to the point that if someone handed me their setup and said, "here, want some grandmaster?", I would not have guessed it was a clone.

Just mixed up 30ml of this as my first DIY batch. I'm an all day Grandmaster fan so I am hoping this turns out. Haven't tried yet, we'll see how long I can let it steep.
I'm not trying to drop a turd in the punch bowl but the caramel original, the graham clear, the banana cream, and both peanut butters, contain acetly propionyl and or acetoin. Most people on here probably already know this but for those that don't, those chemicals might lead to long term lung damage.
> might
Dude, I'm not trying to be a dick about it. This recipe got me to finally pull the trigger on DIY. I later found out about some of the possible health risks related to acetoin and acetyl propionyl, largely thanks to you actually, and thought that someone new might like to have that info.
Both ingredients along with diacetyl are present in normal cigarettes, often times in higher quantity than ejuice. So if you are a former smoker, you are most likely still better off vaping even if you are vaping the most buttery/custardy ejuice you can find.
It's all about harm reduction, not harm elimination. We are all taking risks by inhaling anything other than clean air.
