I will probably rarely buy juice. Just mixed my first bottle of juice. 10ml 70VG/30PG 6mg. Flavor suggestion from /u/JustStayHereAndDrink
- 7% Juicy Peach
- 5% Watermelon
- 2% Honey Dew
DIY is so much fun. It brings that satisfaction that you got when you built your first coil, but better. Thanks for all the help in this sub.
Havent bought juice in 6 months. After mixing my own, I just can't justify 1000-2000% markups
I know they have to eat, too, but it makes me realize just how much they're eating...
I also find that when you search for clone recipes of popular juices they come out better and stronger flavour than the originals. They make all that markup and are sill skimping with the flavor.
Insane how much they are making off of it. My local vape shop was obviously trying to get out of paying any taxes by offering a "cash discount". They have gotten their last free lunch from this guy.
I think the majority of the cash discount thing has to do with fees on credit cards. There are a lot of businesses that offer them due to it being illegal in some states to tax a service fee on a credit card. But yeah, B&Ms are often expensive anyway, I wouldn't mind supporting one though if i could find one that actually knew what they were talking about, haha.
No kidding.
I got curious about what this Gambit stuff was all about, so I looked it up, read the flavor description, and made my own using whatever I had that was close. I have no clue if it was even close to Gambit, but it was crazy delicious (my friends and I thought so, anyway) and didn't cost me thirty goddamn dollars.
And here it is:
- 8.5% Apple
- 3.5% Graham Cracker
- 5% Double RY4 (regular RY4 will probably work, too)
- 3% Sweet Cream (haven't tried vanilla, but that might work)
I have a good gambit like recipe if youd like to give it a whirl
- 10% Apple Pie TFA
- 5% Vanilla Bean Ice Cream TFA
- 2% Caramel Candy TFA
- 2% Bavarian Cream TFA
- 2% Sweet Cream TFA
- 1% Vanilla Cupcake TFA
- 1% Cheesecake with Graham Cracker Crust TFA
- 2 drops Capella Sugar Cookie per 20ml
You know how you see those people buying an ego knock off in the mall for 80 bucks and you know the kit cost 5 bucks in bulk from some shady Chinese manufacturer? You want to tell the people buying these things, "Look, right across the street there is a shop that has better shit for 1/4 the price and it won't die on you in a week." It's like that, but worse. A 50ml bottle of my daily costs me less than 2.50 to make and I have never found any retail flavor that comes close. I've been in stores and let workers, owners and customers try my magic and unanimously they say "That's better than ours."
I understand these companies have to pay people and make a profit, but the material cost is almost non existent in this market. Quality is a concern only in that it's not straight up poison. The components used are the same everywhere. The flavors come from the same manufacturers. The price point is in employees. DIY simply cuts out that singular most expensive component of the equation and replaces it with tailored flavor levels and profiles.
Buying vendor products is as insane to me as those people in the mall now. But you can't convince some people of their misfortune.
By the same token, my $17 FastTech Sentinel V3 clone is a champ at a tenth of the price of a real one.
I love clone mods. 90% of the performance for 10% of the price. That being said I do have about 75 dollars worth of clones that have never once seen an atty because they made terribly. But that still half of a legit pinoy. My 30 dollar copper nemesis clone with magnet and pin upgrades is flawless.
I really want a copper Nemesis clone, so hearing that endorsement makes me pretty damn happy.
Meanwhile, my Chi clone is just... horrendous. I think it's a millimeter or two too long, because that telescopic center pin refuses to stay in place. However, I'm not terribly willing to call that a clone problem, because I've seen too many people talk about how that's something you just need to deal with when you have that style of center pin.
That said, it's got terrible voltage drop and doesn't even come close to my Sentinel in performance.
I still buy juice once every few months out of curiosity. Just got some whit e octopus because they have some really unique recipes, and obviously because their marketing is classy as fuck.
How do you like that flavor? It sounds interesting.
It's extremely good just mixed and dripped. The Honey Dew is pretty much overpowering everything right now even at 2%, which I've read about it being strong, but has a good flavor and it's not perfumey. Hoping it'll even out more as time passes.
First recipe I ever made and still make a decent amount almost 2 years later
8% TFA Honeydew 6% TFA Cantaloupe 2% EM
The guy I got it from also put in 2% juicy peach for a fuzzy melon ball, I liked the normal one more.
There is a small number of vendors I might still buy juice from, but I find it almost impossible to buy from someone I haven't. 30ml for 15? Decent price, but I see that as being 2-3 4 oz bottles from TFA which will last me quite a lot longer.
Is my juice as good as that from vendors? Not all of them, that is for sure. Better than 60-65%? Maybe, but without having tried every vendor out there I can't say for sure. All I know is I tend to like what I mix and I enjoy mixing.
