Hi!
A few days ago (Thursday) I bought a premixed 50/50 base with 6mg nic in it. The shop owner told me to mix 2% strawberry flavour and 0,5% menthol in it and it should taste great. I did exactly that gave it a good shake and let it rest on my shelf until sunday I filled it into my kayfun and the first hit was kinda okay it had a bit of menthol and a bit of strawberry and I was kinda happy. But a few more pulls I didn't taste anything at all anymore. Did I put too much flavouring in the base or does it just need more time to steep?
Also if I shake it really well many many small bubbles appear in the bottle. And after I added some water it looked like crystals are forming inside the bottle but after a few hours the solution was clear again. Did I do something wrong? I assumed I had read enough about diy juice and was ready to mix some but now I just dont know what to do next.
Did you just add plain tap water? You should only use distilled. Did you use a calculator to get your amounts? Also 2% and 0.5% are really low, especially if these are TPA flavorings.
The bubbles are pretty normal though.
Also in my experience menthol tends to be super overpowering until the mix sits for a bit.
2% is way way way too little flavoring. You should be at a minimum 10% with the strawberry and if all you're using is strawberry and a little menthol you could go up to about 12-15% strawberry and 2% menthol. Just play with the ratios and you'll find the sweet spot. Work with small batches, around 10ml.
this is impossible to know without knowing the brand
I've yet to find any brand of flavor concentrate, especially strawberry flavor, where 2% could really even be tasted. Other flavors 1-2% flavor is plenty to get a good strong flavor but not strawberry. The main point of my comment though was to start at around 10% and go up or down from there.
Inawera is insanely strong (in a good way). 2% is just about perfect for a lot of their flavours, and a few are better towards 1%.
Just for accuracy's sake, it can be useful to dilute their flavours by about 5:1 with PG, so that you can measure "normal" amounts of them.
