If using a syringe, what size?
What gauge needle would be good for my VG and Nic in VG?
Mix by weight. Don't weigh each flavour, you won't easily get a precise enough number to be effective unless you weigh quite a bit of each one (there's a lot less room for error weighing say 50ml of something than trying to weigh 1ml). I just set my flavourings for a standard 1.026 g/ml which is the same as PG. It gives a useful and reproducible result, even if it isn't clinically precise.
Going by weight, you can go by drops. If your scale has a Tare button/function, you can simply update the tare weight after the empty bottle, and each following ingredient, so you're always adding exactly what the calculator requires. No math in your head this way.
For very potent flavours, it's useful to dilute them with PG, and increase the percentage. This way instead of trying to get half a drop for 0.01 or 0.02g, you can dilute the flavour to be more amenable to full drops, which with standard juice bottles seem to be about 0.04g on average.
For VG, you have three options. No needle, just use the syringe tip. No syringe, use a dropper bottle and just squeeze it in, or if you really prefer needles, you can get a 10 gauge needle which does make it easier, but can be hard to find. For mixing by weight, I much prefer to use squeeze bottles, and a regular juice bottle for adding small amounts by drops.
Another option is to mix by weight...a digital jewelers scale with a capacity of 500g and resolution of .01g would be cheaper than regularly replacing syringes and there's less cleanup. They can be had on eBay for around $15.
I've thought about it. Would have to weigh every flavor though too. Would save a lot of trouble in the long run though.
Got a link and price to this box of flavors? Thanks!
You need to have an account, then just search for "144" in the search box.
Is there any other way to find it? I have an account and the only thing it brings up when I type in 144 is tarragon
VG is a bitch to move and I've used 14 gauge needles and that still doesn't help much.
20 gauge for flavoring.
I personally got a dispensing bottle like this
I put my VG in it and I add the VG last, so when I'm making a full bottle all I have to do is:
add flavoring, add nicotine, add pg, fill with VG from the bottle.
So I don't even have to measure the VG, just fill it the rest of the way up.
I'm guessing you want to do Max VG and that's why you got your nicotine in VG.
That's gonna make moving the nicotine harder, you'll have to use 14 gauge needles probably and it's still gonna be annoying.
I did want to do MAX VG when I ordered it, but not now. From now on I'll be getting Nic in PG.
For now I have been taking the needle tip off of my syringe to move it, but it would be nice if I could get a bigger needle.
What concentration nic did you get? I have 100mg/ml in VG on the way, and my plan is to dilute to 50 or maybe 25 in a 50/50 blend. That way its just flavoring, blended nic, then top off. Keeps math simple too, and no one I know needs more than like 16mg/ml at this point. I might keep some of the nic at 100 for storage though
