Lost package = SOL
submitted over 11 years ago by dantheirishman

I recently made an order of flavoring from High Desert Vapes. I've been purchasing all of my large quantities from individual vendors for some time, but decided that in the name of convenience I would just go for 2-3 vendors from here on out. I purchased a very small order of $50 as a trial run to see how everything is packaged

Smash-cut to: 1 month later

No package. According to the tracking it was delivered 2 weeks ago, but I can guarantee it was not. Really has me bummed out that I'm now having to wait another week and burn more cash just to fill a small sample order.

As I order everything online, you'd think this would happen more often, but in my 26 years on this earth, I've never encountered a lost package. I first contact HDV to ask what the protocol was for this kind of thing. The young lady there was extremely informative, sweet, and helpful(?). She suggested I contact my postal carrier/ postmaster to get some more information.

4 days later I still have no info.

I spoke to my mail carrier and he doesn't remember a damn thing (why would you?) and HDV is just telling me to hound them for info.

I realize that this is not HDV fault, but its unfortunate that it tainted my view of the retailer. I know I shouldn't, but I'll be ordering my large batches from somewhere else in the future. No one expects any help from the post office, but I would have liked to see HDV do more to ensure customer satisfaction.

Sorry for the rant, I just needed to vent.

Did you go to your post office? I had 3 or 4 packages that were all being held at the post office with no notification and the tracking numbers all said delivered. I just had to go and show my id and that was it.

I called them twice, but was blown off.

Houston isn't exactly known for its helpful gov't employees

Reeeeeeally. Well then, I might need to leave work early and make some moves. Appreciate it boss.

Every time I try and deal with the PO here I appreciate how screwed up our customer service is.

You might be surprised how little power the shipper has in this situation. By being able to keep in close constant contact with your nearest post office, you actually have much more leverage here than they do.

That's why some suppliers pay for insurance, all should. My stuff arrives insured from MFS.

There are suggestions otherwise in this thread, but it's my understanding that whomever you order from is legally responsible in the case of failed delivery. They hire the delivery service as an agent but it's up to the seller to make a claim against them, not the buyer. It's a dick move most of the time but you can always go after the seller if you don't get what you bought.

Don't just talk to the post office, put in a claim.

I had a similar experience with my freedom smokes and they took care of me immediately. Sent out another package that day and didn't charge me for shipping, very friendly and prompt response earned them a permanent customer. I've also had good luck with e cig express great customer service and quick shipping on incredible flavors (inawera, hangsen, flavor art)

These guys got it right ++ for them. This is what happens when you have someone in shipping that knows what they are doing.

There are GPS radios in the scanners the postal workers use to scan the package delivered. Now that you know that, tell the post office that you know that.

I had this problem when I bought an MVP in December. I never got it... they claimed it was left at my door, which they aren't allowed to do anyways. The vendor didn't refund me because the post office wouldn't admit they lost it.

What you want to do is make enough of a scene that they are getting close to calling the cops. Then turn to them calmly and ask again if they can find out if they have your package being held at the post office or what they plan to do to reimburse you.

Every place I have ordered anything from that used the post office had insurance. Even ordering 30ml bottles of juice from MtBaker they put insurance of $50-100 on your package. If someplace is sending out orders without insurance I wouldn't order from them again. It's basically a guarantee that if your order doesn't arrive or gets damaged in the mail you will be covered and won't be out any money, just a little time.

I was had a package of kanthal go missing that was "delivered" so I put in a ticket with Amazon and called the post office when I could. After calling the post office it magically appeared in my mail box the next day. Luckily lighting vapes ( awesome company if you are into rebuilding) was awesome about it and sent another one out the next day.
