Hey kids, just finished watching the latest episode of Game of Thrones and need a glass of milk and a lie down :/

I've been using TFA Green Tea recently, it's great as an accent at around 2-3% with some main fruits at 8-10%, creating a relatively "light" but incredibly refreshing flavour profile

For example;

 2% Green Tea (TFA)
 8% Juicy Peach (TFA)
1% Sour (TFA - Malic Acid)

_Mo

Edit: This might be a good time to mention some of my thoughts on people getting their knickers in a twist about diacetyl and acetoin in their recipes.

Acetyl propionyl and acetoin are used in the production of "custard" flavourings. Both of these ingredients are replacements for diacetyl, which is no longer being used by many (but not all) flavour manufacturers. Although acetyl propionyl and acetoin are regarded as safe for use in Food Flavors, there are studies being done as to whether there are problems with inhalation as under certain circumstances they can "catalyze" into containing minute traces of the molecule Diacetyl.

Diacetyl is an intensely-buttery flavoured compound which 'may be hazardous when heated and inhaled over a long period..." such as in factory environments.

Some flavor compounds we all use may contain small amounts of acetoin which MAY catalyse into minute traces of Diacetyl, but there is no evidence so far that shows that this is a serious risk.

Please keep in mind that while we only use food-grade flavourings, every flavouring on the market is made up of dozens if not hundreds of different chemicals which lend taste and smell to the end product, and there has not been wide-scale studies into inhalation safety of said flavourings.

It is my opinion that while vaping could be considered less damaging that using cigarettes, the best option is to not introduce any foreign substances into your respiratory system.

I'm definitely not one to complain about acetyl propionyl and acetoin... I love custard.

Holy crap this juice is good! Seriously delicious right after mixing. I'm anxious to taste this after a week of steeping. You're like some sort of mixing wizard with the recipes you come up with. How long did it take you to develop this recipe? I mean, there are a lot of flavors in there, and some of them are at such small percentages it seems like they wouldn't have any effect. But they all blend together so perfectly. I've only been doing DIY for a couple of weeks now and I can't even conceive of creating something like this. I know this is kind of an ass-kissing comment, but it's well deserved if you ask me. Bravo my friend!

1 points

by 3tern1tyover 11 years agoMixologist

hahahahhaha thanks for the ass kissing. It took me about 20 minutes and two mixes to develop this. I can't take all the credit. I used the original MM Clone recipe from a thread on here (too lazy to find it now but it shows up when you search mothers milk) and then fixed it for my taste preference.

I'm actually surprised you think it's good right after mixing. Usually caps custard takes a while to calm down. This recipe does need a week steep, which is about what I recommend for any custard mix.

1 points

by alexxxblahover 11 years ago

This looks delicious. What's the steep time?

1 points

by 3tern1tyover 11 years agoMixologist

I only mixed a bottle two days ago... not sure how long it will last hahaha it's pretty good from the get-go but cap's custard takes a few days to settle, so I'd say three days to a week. That's what I steep my other custard at. I think strawberries and cream would be better with this as well so if you decide to mix just swap that, same %.

1 points

Capella strawberries and cream? Cause I just got some in the mail have yet to use it though

1 points

by sethm522over 11 years ago

That's a line up.. hopefully ill have all of those ingredients at some point... however. I am missing 3 micro ingredients (i think.. id have to shuffle thru my mess)

don't have the pear, orange cream, or dragon fruit.. I am not all that fond of pear anyway, for dragon fruit, i have several possible replacements in FA samples (passionfruit, mangostein), and i could use a touch of sweet tangerine/fresh cream to replace orange cream (??) Would also use TFA vanilla custard due to a lack of CAP.

what do you think 3tern1ty?

ill try it with the strawberries n cream.. i think my ripe strawberry is to fruity.. i would even maybe use FA strawberry. It's got a lot of body and sweetness.

2 points

by 3tern1tyover 11 years agoMixologist

If you have TFA VC then do this recipe plus around 4% strawberries and cream. That should achieve desired effect

1 points

by sethm522over 11 years ago

I keep meaning to whip up a batch of that.. It sounds like a perfect base. However i have 0 PG as I don't use any. I keep telling myself to order some just for this recipe, and then i forget. I suppose i could make it with VG and let it steep for a while.

I have everything to try this mix except tpa orange cream. I have Capellas orange creamsicle though, do you think that might be close enough (if you've used it)?

2 points

I've never used it. The TFA orange cream is exceptionally strong. Capellas flavors never seem to be as powerful.

Literally everything except the Cap Custard.... I do have TPA Vanilla Custard. Same %?

1 points

by 3tern1tyover 11 years agoMixologist

TPA's custard tastes much different. Try this one with 3-4% strawberry ripe...

http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/21974/Vagnerian+Canape

Should be roughly the same profile. Steep for at least 5 days before trying. Strawberry ripe and tpa custard need time

I just mixed this up but used a few different ingredients (TPA instead).

  • Replaced Pear (FA) with Pear (TPA).
  • Replaced Sweet Strawberry (Cap) with Strawberry (TPA)
  • Replaced Vanilla Custard (Cap) with Vanilla Custard (TPA).

Same quantities.

Mixed a 10ml gave it two hot water baths, vaped once it cooled and it was delicious. Instantly mixed a 60ml after that to let it cure for a week or two.

Cudos.

Can you help me? 12% capella = 1,2 ml for a 10 ml bottle right? If I add everything at the end I must use 10 - (1,2 + 0,6+ 0,1 + 0,3 + 0,3) = 7,6 ml of PG/VG? Thank you

Only about an hour or so old, but I like it! It was my first experience using menthol crystals and/or ethyl maltol crystals, but I dissolved each in 10ml of PG, idk if my concentrations weren't strong enough, or if your recipe was just lighter menthol, but I like it, I just think it was a little too light on the menthol but like I said, it could just be the way I mixed it

Still working with simple recipes so far, my favorite to date is a Mint Chocolate:

12% tfa double chocolate (clear)
3% tfa creme de menthe

Very reminiscent of mint chocolate chip ice cream, IMO.

1 points

by [deleted]over 11 years ago

I run this at 10% and 5% respectively, and refer to it as Andes Mint (though I legally shouldn't). :)

1 points

by zaphodb2002over 11 years ago

I originally ran 10%/5% too, but I found the mint to be a little overpowering. Of course, it didn't get too much steep time, because it was still delicious.

1 points

by Isablidineover 11 years ago

Just made a 15ml batch about 20 minutes ago and am testing now. This is very good.

I am about to make a second batch and will be adding 1% peppermint to the recipe just to test it. I'm trying to achieve a peppermint patty and welcome suggestions from all. Also wondering if it might need a 1% increase to DC (clear) (edit: to achieve the patty.)

I know mother's milk is much sought after, and a few recipes are floating around. Give this one a try. I'd recommend hot water steeping for a few hours.

 7% TFA Vanilla Custard
 2.1% TFA French Vanilla
 2% TFA Bavarian Cream
 1.55% Capella's Sweet Strawberry
 .5% TFA Coconut Extra
 2% TFA Sweetener

No need to make a milkstone base, just mix and steep. Would love to know what you think if you mix this up, and have had mother's milk before!

A recipe I've been working on for some time now. For me Chocolates and booze flavors are tough to get nice. I got one profile that needs a bit to develope, but once sat for at least a week. Works rather nice, though you can drip it right away to get an idea..

(The booze flavor will be heavy until settled in.) The creams and sweets are the toners and balancers for that flavor. Otherwise it tastes like kerosine. Took me some time to figure out that, without stopping the boozy tone coming out.

Wobbly Chocolate

  • 8% Double Chocolate(Clear) (TFA)
  • 1% Coconut Extra (TFA)
  • 1.5% Cotton Candy (TFA)
  • 5% Sweet Cream (TFA)
  • 5% Kentucky Bourbon (TPA)

3 points

by davidk48over 11 years ago

I've been playing around with a pre-steeped cream base (credit to /u/3tern1ty for the idea). Here's my take on a Crunch Berries type flavor:

Cream Base:

*27% Bavarian Cream (TFA)

*14% Coconut (CAP)

*14% Marshmallow (TFA)

*35% Simply Vanilla (CAP)

*10% Whipped Cream (TFA)

Crunch Berries:

*7% Strawberries and Cream (CAP)

*6% Blueberry Wild (TFA)

*6% Cream Base

*ONE drop per 10ml of Health Cabin Cereal flavor. This stuff is strong. Needs a few days before the cereal mellows out and lets the berries through.

I also ended up with a mix today that tastes really similar to Seduce's "Gold" which seems to have been discontinued. Credit again to /u/3tern1ty for the cream portion which was posted earlier in this thread in an orange cream recipe.

Kiwi Cream

*6% Kiwi Double (TFA)

*5% Bavarian Cream (TFA)

*3% Marshmallow (TFA)

*2% Whipped Cream (TFA)

*1% Sweet Cream (TFA)

If anyone tries either of these, feedback would be appreciated!

1 points

by fifthmanstandingover 11 years agoPâtissier

How does this whole milkstone/cream base thing work. Do you just put raw extracts into a bottle by themselves and then use X percent of them as a 'flavor' by itself?

1 points

by davidk48over 11 years ago

Yep, that's the idea. Be sure to shake well before using, and it's probably best to leave the base to steep/rest/whatever for a while before using it in a recipe.

1 points

by quidprobonoabout 11 years ago

Just made the kiwi cream. Kiwi isn't as sharp as I may like, but it's only 30 minutes old. I like it, and would maybe suggest swapping the whipped cream for vanilla swirl for a tad more body. Tiny hint of another fruit might bring out some kiwi. Nectarine perhaps? Maybe a dash of pear?

1 points

by davidk48about 11 years ago

Thanks for the feedback! The last time I used kiwi it was too sharp, so I tried to tone it down a little for this one. Swapping whipped cream for vanilla swirl sounds like a good idea. I don't have any nectarine, but I was thinking about pear. I think I'll try that next time.

1 points

by quidprobonoabout 11 years ago

Just a baby-bit o' pear ought to do the trick!

Another recipe for ya'll.. This one is simple yet tasty.

Pineach

  • 3% Koolada
  • 5% Pinapple (TFA)
  • 5% Peach (TFA)
  • 2% Green Apple (TFA)

This one s ready out of the gate. I found it does mellow and get nicer after two weeks of sit time.

One could omit the Koolada, even replace it with Menthol. I don't have/use Menthol, so input from a user of that additive would be nice. I am curious if it would work like I think it will.

Bonus:

Speedy Strawberry

  • 15% Moo Juice (MBV)
  • 5% Strawberry (Ripe) (TFA)

This one is a very smelly juice and makes a good vape even better.

2 points

by Krigaover 11 years ago

The first self-made recipe I'm really happy with. Tastes exactly like the Bacardi Rum Runner mix that comes in those frozen cardboard cans.

Rum Runner

  • 4% Banana Ripe (TFA)

  • 3% Blackberry (TFA)

  • 2% Pineapple (TFA)

  • 2% Jamaican Rum (FA)

  • 2% Tart n Sour (LA)

  • 1.5% Mandarin (FA)

  • 1% Citrus Punch (TFA)

  • 1% Brandy (FA)

  • .5% Pomegranate (FA)

You can probably get away with not using the brandy, pomegranate, maybe even the rum, but use 'em if you've got 'em. Adjust percentages if subbing TFA for FA. The banana needs about 3 days to calm down, after which the mix takes on its own unique flavor.

Hello, I just wanted to stop by and see what everyone thought of my first ADV. I've played with a lot of flavors and really like this one in particular.

  • 10% Belgian Waffle

All flavors are TFA

Really hoping for some input on improving or even if its just liked or not.

Here are two flavors that I've been working on.

They're both from Mr E-Liquid. I've been using MtBakerVapor flavorings for a very long time, up until recently, when I discovered they were re-bottling Flavor West (not cool man). Now I've been experimenting with The Flavors Apprentice, and I have yet to see how much better Flavor West is. If there are some intelligent people in the thread who are good with adjusting percentages for TFA flavorings, please reply with the conversions.

Jade Tiger

7% Strawberry (TFA, MBV, or FW)

5% Watermelon (TFA, MBV, or FW)

4% Pineapple (TFA, MBV, or FW)

4% Coconut (TFA, MBV, or FW)

Pluto

11% Honeydew (TFA specifically)

3% Pineapple (TFA, MBV, or FW)

2% Papaya (TFA, MBV, or FW)

1% Orange or Ecto-Cooler (TFA, MBV, or FW)

Edit: I've heard that Pluto, and the Honeydew from TFA takes a bit to steep. It will turn slightly orange/amber in color when it's about right, but it's good fresh. Also, these flavors are pretty flavorful in their current form. So the sweetener and sour flavors are not necessary.

Edit 2: Did some more experimenting with Pluto. This is the updated version.

Nice to see recipes using FW/MBV. Some of their molecules are pretty good.

Try:

Moo Juice and Strawberry together. Very tasty!!! I use Strawberry (Ripe) from TFA, but a solid berry, would make a delish Moo-vape even better!

15% Moo Juice (MBV)
5% Strawberry (Ripe) (TFA)
  • tilt head back and drool

Moo Juice is an awesome vape to me.

Blue Pine Chill

6% Blueberry (LAN)

5% Pineapple (TFA)

1.5% Sour (TPA)

2% Koolada (TPA)

Pretty much good to go after a good mix. percentages on this really vary with batch size, particularly the koolada, i have a feeling it has a fairly low specific gravity.

These percentages were for a 20ml mix

1 points

by duck_butterover 11 years ago

I tried this with TPA flavors...

  • 4% Blueberry Candy
  • 6% Pineapple

Was over powering and not good to my tastes. I added some Koolada @ 4% to give it zest.

You might adapt it with an Apple flavor instead of Pineapple. Tossing in perhaps a 3% Melon, water or honeydew. Which would help the Koolada. Which to my taste might work..
