I'm somewhat new to this whole DIY thing. Can someone explain how to use this information or what for? What is the flash point for instance?
An MSDS sheet defines what hazards apply to a certain product. If your juice making facility was to burst into flames for some reason, would the concentrate act like water or like gasoline when exposed to high temperatures? It seems the banana nut bread is somewhat flammable so you'd want to handle it in a ventilated area and not store it next to the furnace. :) And if it did burst into flame should you douse it with water or dry chemical? This information will give you all that and you can find MSDS sheets for just about any chemical product like Acetone, WD40 and so on. You might want to be aware of the flash points for various concentrates if you heat cure but I can't see someone heating their juice to the point it bursts into flame or explodes
Not to the point it exploding, but take ripe banana that if I remember correctly has a flash point around 150o, if you were to heat this, it may change the chemical compound, which is why if you heat a flavor to an excessive extent, it will change, this can be seen with Ripe banana, as it will actually become cloudy and is an extremely harsh hit.
But, also, this gives out the flavor profiles in a way if you look at the ingredients, so it could also help with cloning juice.
I'm not personally concerned with flash points, but the component ingredient lists are fascinating! Thanks for that.
It's many just because if the flash point is low, such as 150oF there are actually moments in a car or while heat curing them it could potentially reach that temperature, creating issues with the juice.
Flash points are greatly affected by the other constituents of the solution. You're not heat steeping pure flavouring. The PG and VG making up the majority of the juice would nullify this risk.
