I made a post yesterday saying how my mix of "Bubblegum" from Flavor West didn't taste right, and tonight I mixed some Spearmint from Capella and I think I may be getting that same kinda taste only the Spearmint covers it up more. I just smelled my Nicotine and it's kind of a strong smell and I think it smells kinda how it tastes. I got it from Nic-R-Us in Canada.
Just smelling it and vaping again, I'm 99% sure it's my nicotine.
What is your nic percentage? My base is 10% and it faintly smells like stale cigarettes. I cannot taste any difference, however.
the bottle I made was 12mg nic, what do you mean by percentage? If you mean how much nic base did I add to my mix, it would be 24% of the mix. 15% flavoring.
It's 50mg strength
The smell and taste of nicotine can vary depending on the harvest. It usually has a peppery taste. Sometimes it can also have an unpleasant slightly fishy odor. My suggestion is to either find a different nicotine supplier (if you can) or try using more flavoring. Also, double check your calculations to make sure you're not using too much nicotine, and try adding multiple flavors for a more complex taste on the palate.
I've noticed that chemical smell with most of the nic I've used. The only vendor who replaced it for me was ECX. I contacted them about the smell and they ended up shipping me a new batch at no charge. The new batch they sent me still had a smell but it was a lot less pronounced. Other vendors pretty much told me the smell was normal and to deal with it.
Note that even though some nic may have a strong odour, it doesn't necessarily mean it'll taste bad, so it's always important to taste your base without flavouring before doing any mixing. Knowing your base will give you a better indication on how flavourings affect your mixes.
I'm going to vape some of the base right now, I know what I'll find though. This is gonna be gross as hell haha. I'm so bummed. I can't do any good mixes with this crap.
You can still do good mixes with it, but it might be a bit more of a challenge.
Tobacco mixes tend to do better with smelly nic than fruity mixes.
What does it smell like? it should be like nutty/almonds.
if you use high nic you will be able to taste it, but it should be a pleasant taste.
If I smell it above the opening of the bottle it is kinda nutty, if I put my nose really close it's more of a chemical smell. Whatever chemical smell means :p I think you get it.
Are you fucking retarded? If you are going to smell a chemical you wave it into your nose not stick your nose into the bottle, maybe DIY is not for you if you can't practice basic safety.
Nicotine base smells, but it shouldn't affect the taste (from my experience).
Yeah, definitely tasting it in mine. if I smell my cotton in my RDA too I can smell the Nic odor just as much as my flavor.
Does it taste really acrid? Almost a bit like a burning clutch? If so I'm really sure I have the same problem and I think it must be a bad batch of Nicotine, If you resolve it can you let me know as it's driving me nuts.
Heya Newfff! I just smelled my nic for ya. I have 48mg base from canvape, a bottle each of PG and VG based. Both are almost odorless, with the familiar but extremely faint nutty smell. I have some 100mg stuff coming in today or tomorrow, I'll let you know how it compares.
One weird thing: The PG based nic I have is very very harsh when first mixed, but settles down after a day or two. The VG one is smooth from the moment it's mixed. I don't know if this is normal, but it was an interesting discovery.
Thanks man, mine is far from odorless. Think it's bad batch
TBH, I'm surprised you ever got it from nic-r-us. I heard they're starting to ship again, but based on how they've strung people along in the past I'd avoid them on principle.
what kind of smell? I got some juice from my B&M one time and it was HORRIBLE. Like the flavor was still there but there was this very strong burnt ashtray flavor. Even when tasting the liquid itself it was very strong. I still wonder what it was. They told me they could not figure it out and basically wanted me to go away. Nevertheless I do not go to them anymore.
Just checked my 48 and 100mg nic from MFS...I smell nothing at all, fwiw.
Yeah, the stuff I get from here in the UK which comes from the same distillery that makes nic for patches smells of nothing and is as clear as water. I have had an old bottle of 52mg from somewhere else that had oxidised and smelt like nuts and copper, was almost orange and didn't mix well at all.
99% pure may only be the determined concentration upon the release of the chemical. I would caution you to perform a nicotine concentration calculation with an acid-base titration to find out the true concentration of your solution.PM us if you need some additional resources :) Best of luck from the Nude Nicotine laboratories!
