Let it steep or taste it off the bat?
submitted over 11 years ago by zrw84

I've only just started mixing my own liquids, a total of five small batches thus far, but I was wondering if there is a consensus on this. Do you prefer to let your batches steep before you try and vape them or do you try them directly after mixing to get an idea of what it will taste like?

Thanks!

I always drip a little bit right away. Then, If it's nasty, I let it sit for a while and try again after a week or so. I'll let a juice sir for three weeks if needed.

Not only do I get an idea of what flavors taste OK without steeping, I also get a feel for how the flavor changes over time. Now I know that if I mix certain flavors whether or not it must steep and for approximately how long.

The best advice I can give you is to get a dripper.

Both. I make 10ml, try it right away and every 3-4 days after. 3 weeks...it's done

Always at least try it right after mixing, if for no other reason than to make sure you haven't cloned Beelzebub's Asshole. A lot of the time it won't be quite ready, but it gives you an idea of proportions and how it might mature. Nothing wrong with more information.

Get a bridgeless atomizer for a quick taste of your liquid. You can use a dripper to do so if you want. I started with Blu so i had some cartridges left, i ripped out the wadding and tube and use those as a BA.

I try mine right away if it is a new flavor but my ADV's are mixed exactly the same each time so i throw them in the ultrasonic cleaner for a few hours.

So... Whatcha makin?

I actually just got a KFL+ and used it as a dripper today for the flavors I made. Thus far I've tried caramel macchiato, dutch apple pie, vanilla cupcake with chocolate and caramel, vanilla latte and a creamy tiramisu. The apple pie has turned out the best, I'm trying to find a recipe close to Dabble Dooyah by Mr. Good Vape. The others aren't terrible for my first try out of the gate, but they need some work. Having a ton of fun with this though!

Dutch Apple Pie, mmmm. Flavor West? That tiramisu would be very interesting to try. When i use FW DAP for juice i vape it right away, personally i dont think it gets better with time but i have never made it from base flavors.

Thanks for sharing!

I smell it and if it smells perfumey or not good, I wait. Some, I give a warm water soak in a coffee cup of hot water for awhile - keep refilling when the water cools. That helps it to settle in too.

If you find yourself overly obsessed with steeping (sic) you should seriously consider steep therapy...
