I know this subject has been discussed before, but just now I was pointed to a vendor that uses saline. In fact he/she lists the ingredients and the percentages he/she uses. Just thought it was interesting.

Is there a benefit to adding salt water to your juice? Flavor maybe?
If you want to thin VG why not just stick with water?
My non-medically educated guess would be that inhaling salt all day everyday is probably not a great choice. Not that anything else we do would be but why add more risks?
There is quite a bit of discussion about saline and more adjuncts in this ECF thread. People who regularly use it to dilute their high VG liquids believe it makes fruit flavors 'pop' a bit, and adds a touch of saltiness to bakery blends. In this post, a proponent for the use of saline outlines his dilution method.
I haven't yet experimented with this yet, but plan to on my next session. You just want to be sure to use sterile USP 0.9% saline to avoid any impurities.
I was reading up on dry nose lately and found that thread. I've made four juice mixes with the saline and did seen to help hydrate my sinuses just a tiny but 6% but it also seems to have dulled my flavoring a over time. I may just need to up flavoring percentages but...
Ive noticed that SS makes its more smooth or "wet" by just one drop per 5ml and you can also notice the salt. But at the same time it kills the flavor of most mixes.. and adding more flavor does not improve it. It works in only some flavors, fruity flavors perhaps is best.
Normal Saline is actually quite compatible with the human body as it is isotonic and doesn't dehydrate cells.
But when it's vaporized, only the water evaporates and not the salt, right? Isn't that one method of desalination?

That may not be their only supplier. I can't find any allspice or nutmeg flavor there, yet they list it as ingredients in their vanilla chai recipe.
I am guessing they also use "Natures Flavors". It's the only other place that I know of that sells "organic" flavors. They carry all the flavors that medicineflower is missing.
No, I don't use anything from NF. I did just get malic acid from http://pforlife.com/malic-acid-l-malic-acid-the-only-natural-form-granulated-usp-grade-supplement.html but all the flavors are from medicine flower.
BTW, their tobacco absolute (in perfume) smells like american spirit organic, and I'm sure it's what VV uses for best damn tobacco.
I totally put that quote there for that reason - medicine flower won't let me put their name on the website, same for any company that uses their product in another product - hence sodas and deoderants and such can't say medicine flower on them. The sweetener is the same way - it's sweet green fields organic line.

As far as medicine flower - their prices are high, but the flavors are potent enough to be worth it. It's just costly to get any kind of variety. :/
At least I can offer a means of sampling their flavors - it would admittedly be rather costly to acquire all the different flavors in my more complex blends.
That is quite interesting that they list their recipes... But yes, I have tried saline, and it does make a small difference in mouth feel.

Do you recall what percentages you used?
around 9%, but it was a solution of saline+PGA+distilled water. I'm not sure how much if you use just straight saline.
It seems this opensource company is using between 6-8% saline in their juice.
My only concern with saline is that it might, over time, corrode the coils. I haven't found any information on Kanthal and salt yet, but it's a possibility to be considered. Salt water and metals don't play nice, and with the addition of heat stresses it could be an issue. I'm not saying it is, just saying it's something to look into.
Sterile saline itself is safe enough for inhalation. It's used in inhaled medications. We know the effects of it, etc etc.
