I got a bunch of flavors in, and I've been playing around with them this weekend. My wife suggested I try something with chocolate and banana, and then she went on about banana splits, so I decided to work on that, starting with getting the chocolate and banana ratios to work and then working on the middle and background flavors to turn it into banana split.
Well, I thought about it for a while, and figured that since chocolate has a sharp flavor, I would use more banana than chocolate. I mixed up a 1ml test batch, and the banana was overpowering and made it taste chemically. I could still taste the chocolate, but it was subdued.
So I tried again. This time I used half as much banana as chocolate, and it worked almost perfectly. The flavors were in the right proportion, and tasted right.
There's just one problem. The flavors didn't blend. They stayed separate. I could taste the chocolate really clearly on the inhale, and no banana. On the exhale, it was all banana, and no chocolate.
I was hoping to get the banana and chocolate to work together as a singular chocolate banana flavor so that they are both tasted simultaneously on the inhale.
Any tips/advice/info on how to get these two flavors to work together instead of coming forward at different parts of the draw?
You could try using that to your advantage! Find a flavor that mixes well with both and you've got an interesting juice :)
That's basically what I ended up doing. Made a pretty good blend out of it too. I posted the recipe I threw together in response to /u/doerdie here in the comments.
Tastes nothing like the 'banana split' I was originally going for, I'd likely need a vanilla ice cream type flavor to really hit that, but what I ended up with was actually really good.
I like the sound of that...could you share the ingredients? (flavors, brands and % you used) I am shopping for a new banana flavor other that ripe banana TFA and would really enjoy a chocolate recepie just like you describe.
Right now I've only thrown together a 10ml batch of it. here ya go.
(This is based on the 12.5% Chocolate Flavor Concentrate (LA) 7.5% Banana LorAnns Natural Flavor Concentrate (LAN) combo I started with; you can ignore the rest of the recipe if you want and just go with that if you like, it's still good.)
10ml batch:
1.05 ml Chocolate Flavor Concentrate (LA)
.75 ml Banana LorAnns Natural Flavor Concentrate (LAN)
.1 ml Sweet Cream Flavor (TFA)
.3 ml Marshmallow Flavor Concentrate (LA)
.05 ml Whipped Cream Flavor (TFA)
.3 ml Vanilla Cupcake Flavor Concentrate (TFA)
.3 ml French Vanilla Deluxe Flavor Concentrate (TFA)
2 drops Acetyl Pyrazine 5% PG Flavor Concentrate (TFA)
7.125 ml base + nic
It has a subtle nutty, creamy chocolate flavor with a hint of banana on the inhale, and a strong creamy banana marshmallow flavor on the exhale.
It still needs a bit of tweaking though, but I like it. I've used it in a boge cartomizer and a vivi nova, both on an eGo battery. (I don't have a mod, but I'm saving up for an MVP 2; other things have precedence for my paychecks the next few months.)
If you try it on better equipment, let me know how it works.

This is the first chocolate flavoring I've tried. I'll likely be trying other types when I get the chance. It's a bit subdued as far as chocolate goes, more like hot chocolate made with water rather than hot chocolate made with milk, if you know what I mean, it's got the flavor but it's missing the 'richness'.
maybe a bit more marshmallow, 1-3%, would make for a more creamy chocolate. I don't have any chocolate yet, thanks for the info...I will research them before buying one.
Yeah, since I was playing around with the mix, I didn't write it down until after I had mixed it. I mixed up a second batch and tried it, and it wasn't quite as fluffy.
I increased the marshmallow, vanilla cupcake, and french vanilla by about .25ml each, and lowered the chocolate by .2ml and it worked.
I fixed the recipe in my earlier comment to reflect it.
