I tend to mix 20% flavoring in my liquids but the last 2 TFA flavors I used just taste bad. Am I using too much or just tasting things weirdly? The flavors I used were TFA Strawberries and Cream and the other was 15% Citrus Punch and 5% Wild Blueberry with a drop of ET.
We've found that it all depends:
-
Some flavorings just have a perfumy taste. No matter how little or how much you add, it just gives it that smell/flavor.
-
Let it steep. Our "Sweet Bee" flavor absolutely can not be vaped without steeping for a least a week. Open tops to let the excess alcohol out seems to do the trick.
-
Over flavoring. We typically start with 4-5 samples of different percentages. Once we find a flavor profile that we like, our goal is then searching for the lowest % of flavoring to still get the same taste. Less flavoring seems to help with vapor tongue and is adding less chemicals to the mix. For DiY it is more of a PITA, and you'll get many bottles of "trash". But once you find the perfect ratios, you never have to change it.

Try using a different vendor. A strawberries and cream from TFA is completely different than a strawberries and cream from a different vendor. It's very hard to go off of reviews as everyone's preference of "good" is different. I just counted and we have 9 variations of strawberry here, even though they all claim to be strawberry.
Thanks for this. I had my mom try the Strawberries and Cream and she said it tasted like it but myself and the guy who runs a local B&M both think it just tastes bad.
Taste is beyond subjective. We have flavors that I just can not believe people like, and when someone new to us orders them I make sure and send extra samples, because I personally feel like they're getting ripped off. Yet they come back and order again.
All of the flavors you mentioned are pretty harsh prior to steeping for a while and when not mixed with something to smooth them out IMO. Strawberries and cream especially. I'd try bringing that down to maybe 10% (same with citrus punch) and letting them steep for a few days and see how you like them.
