Final Gremlin Juice Vanilla Custard
submitted over 11 years ago by UltimateOreoMixologist

Oreo's Vanilla Custard

A deep, rich, yet mellow custard flavor with a kick of vanilla. I tried to clone Gremlin's Vanilla Custard, and I came very close, though there are differences between the juices. My recipe has a fantastic vanilla flavor behind it that has a bit more zing than Gremlin's, while retaining a rich custard and creamy profile. If you're a Vanilla Custard fan, this is an absolute MUST try.

I only have a recipe for 30 mL's of this due to dilution problems. If anyone would be able to give weight measurements or dilution procedure for smaller batches, please do.

30mL

50/50

20% flavoring

3.6 mL Capella Vanilla Custard (12%)

1.5 mL Capella French Vanilla (5%)

.18 mL TFA Bavarian Cream (.06%)

.12 mL TFA Sweet Cream (.04%)

.12 mL TFA Malted Milk (.04%)

.06 mL TFA Graham Cracker (.02%)

.06 mL DIY Flavor Shack Holy Vanilla (.02%)

.06 mL Flavor West Yellow Cake (.02%)

Syringe drops are measured with a 20 gauge syringe, may not matter)

2 drops TFA Cinnamon Sugar Cookie

1 drop TFA Orange Cream

1 drop Capella New York Cheesecake

I am finally completely satisfied with this recipe and will not be working on it any further. It's that good. This recipe is attempt 150+, can't wait to hear your thoughts!

I made 120mls of this and vaped prolly half of it and it's good stuff. Your percentages are off though, all those .06, .04 etc percents are supposed to not have the 0. Might have also affected the post about weights by /u/banana_poet I didn't look at it I don't use weight.

Thanks :-)

amazing, thanks, will try it out once i get everything.

Wanna try working on a white gremlin clone with me?

I actually haven't tried White Gremlin as unfortunately it doesn't fit the flavor profile I usually go for. While I would love to help, I feel like I wouldn't have the motivation to crack it. Although I may get bored and feel like playing around a bit, it's happened before! I will keep you in the loop.

Is there anything at all close to "DIY Flavor Shack Holy Vanilla"? Any other vanillas come close? I have everything else.

It is still pretty good without it, but you can tell a difference. I would just remove it and not replace it. It gives the blend a more true vanilla flavor. The flavoring smells damn near like vanilla extract.

Thanks for the quick response!

Hmmm... I have a homemade vanilla bean extract. Perhaps I'll use that. Maybe one with and one without. I'll let you know for sure when I get the chance. I may not get to mix tonight.

You should just exclude it first. I made a batch of his last vesion of this and excluded it, and it is a fantastic custard recipe imho.

Is there any reason you omitted the MTS this round?

1 points

by UltimateOreoover 11 years agoMixologist

It became less and less necessary as the recipe evolved. I tried a side by side, and the MTS actually appears to dull low flavor notes.

I would really like to see your notes / hear your story about the work you put into this.

I mixed intuitively. I just tried all kinds of different flavors and percentages and kept mental notes. Time and patience is all it takes. I imagine it would be difficult to knock out a great flavor overnight or by pure luck.

The best advice I would think to give is to experiment and keep an open mind. I would have never imagined Orange Cream, Cinnamon Sugar Cookie, or NY Cheesecake would go so well together. I didn't mix them all at once, they were all added in eventually over the revisions. With this specific recipe, I just kept adding whatever improved it, grinded through the possibilities and it happened to work out.

That being said, I didn't just go out and buy a million different flavors and mixed till it worked. Keep your purchases relevant, get a good base flavor going then try to get creative from there. For example, cinnamon seems to give vanilla a deeper flavor, while Orange seems to brighten it, both used in small amounts.

Research and trial+ error makes great juice!

You're a gentleman and a scholar. I think you finally found my last holy grail. Between this and jango and honey pearry, I'll never ever buy juice. Ordering the ingredients now :)

What's your good honey pearry recipe? I'm getting the smell of it pretty spot on but it's a little disappointing in taste even after a good steep.

by joede224over 11 years ago

It's cap strawberry, tfa honeydew, tfa pear and cap apricot. It's not dead on, but to be honest I like mine better now, it's a little less sweet. Damn close too.

I used the same percentages from here, I can get them I you want, I'm just on my phone- let me know.

Yeah could you?? I didn't use apricot in my last recipe

Thank you for this contribution. Looks worthy enough to place an order for just these flavors. Looks like you put a lot of hard work into it and I can't wait to try it.

This will be my first mix when I get my supplies. I am tailoring my order this weekend to make sure I have all of the ingredients. I'm really looking forward to trying it.

How much steep time do you recommend?

1 points

by UltimateOreoover 11 years agoMixologist

It's good fresh, but 2 weeks seems to steep it well enough.

So I have everything except for the yellow cake, how much do you think it adds to the mixture? Worth getting?

1 points

by UltimateOreoover 11 years agoMixologist

Mellows things a bit and makes it more savory. You could probably do without and still get a decent mix.

I'll order and wait.. thanks for sharing this recipe!

Dude this is great.. I can't speak to it's closeness as a clone because I've never tried gremlins' custard, but this is a fantastic mix. Again, thanks for sharing! Small note, some of your percentages are off a decimal place. Thanks again!

I mixed 120ml of this with the only substitution being Lorann's Cheesecake for the Capella's. It was good from the get-go but gets better and better as time passes. It has been about 3 weeks. I haven't had Gremlin's but I can't imagine it being better than this. On behalf of myself and my 3 friends enjoying this, thank you for your efforts and dedication to perfecting this mix. Outstanding work.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoy it!

Have you tried it with NY Cheesecake as well?

1 points

by A_Green_Lemurover 11 years ago

The words are earned; amazing recipe.

I have 4 cheesecakes, none of them the Capella's NY - I may add it to a future order, but I feel kind of full-up on cheesecakes right now. And I'm really happy with this vape.

This recipe tastes great even without the holy vanilla. Just mixed a fresh batch and even on day one I can tell it tastes almost identical. Can't wait for it to steep to see how much it develops.

There weren't exact weights for most of the flavors, so I'm assuming 1 g/ml. I'm also assuming that 1 drop is 1/25th of a ml unless otherwise specified on the msds for the flavoring.

My nic base is 60mg, and pg based. I was shooting for 6mg in the final product.

3.600 g Capella Vanilla Custard

1.500 g Capella French Vanilla

0.192 g TFA Bavarian Cream

0.125 g TFA Sweet Cream

0.120 g TFA Malted Milk

0.063 g TFA Graham Cracker

0.060 g DIY Flavor Shack Holy Vanilla

0.060 g Flavor West Yellow Cake

0.083 g TFA Cinnamon Sugar Cookie

0.038 g TFA Orange Cream

0.042 g Capella New York Cheesecake

3.108 g Nicotine

6.424 g PG

18.915 g VG

This will make a 30ml bottle at 50/50 pg/vg.

Edit: Though it does seem odd to me that two drops of cinnamon sugar cookie weighs more than the holy vanilla, graham cracker, or the yellow cake. I might have to play around with that in the morning.

This is awesome, is there a place for the lazy where I can find all the required flavors in one spot?

1 points

by UltimateOreoabout 11 years agoMixologist

You'll have to venture for the holy vanilla, but the rest is at ecigexpress.com

They have TFA, but they label it as "signature".

This is awesome! I recently started diy and hadn't bought many flavors until I saw this recipe (love GJ). I subbed marshmallow for bavarian cream as I don't care for that flavor, didn't have Holy Vanilla (it's on order), but still tastes so close to the og. Thanks so much for sharing!
