So recently I've gotten sick of my usual dollar store labels with pen on them. Just bothers me that they look like that. Anyone here have any good tips or companies that can make proper labels, or even a label maker for at home use. I've heard about the ptouch ones but can I import a picture of my label and print it? I also need colour for it. Please let me know if anyone here has experience with this! Thanks!
I've found that you can spend about ~$250 on ~150-200 custom labels that look super nice, or you can spend ~$90 getting 6000 1" x 2^5/8" Avery labels with ink for your printer and making them look just nice. Here is the PSD that I made for them. Just open up Word, create the labels using the label maker built into word, and import the rasterized image of the PSD. Boom, done.
How much does it cost you to print labels (price of labels, ink, printer, etc...)

I label my home made flavorings by ripping a piece of business card, writing on it with a biro, then punching a hole in it and tying it round the neck of a bottle with a rubber band.
Psh. I break of a piece of old shingle from when my roof was redone, drill a hole in it, zip tie it to a rubber band and snap that around the neck of the bottle, then I write on the shingle with a white paint marker, then I put clear packaging tape over it.
Looks good enough for me.
How about I run you a batch of free color vinyl die cut labels?

I use a Brother Thermal printer. Picked one up for about $80. The won't smear if liquid gets on the labels, and there's a software to design what you want on the label. Works great, and looks more professional than just plain paper.
It's a black and white though isn't it? I need colour unfortunately :(
i design and layout my labels in illustrator & indesign, and print them on decent stock with an inkjet printer. next i give each sheet a few light coats of clear finish with a couple minutes of dry time in between, and then apply each sheet to mounting film, which turns them into sticker sheets. i use an exacto knife, metal straight edge, and cutting mat to cut them into individual labels(i lay them out on a grid in indesign, so it's just a series of straight cuts). then it's just a matter of grabbing the label i need, peeling off the sticker backing, and applying it to the bottle.
it requires a little effort, but they're totally customizable, full color, smudgeproof, and have perfect adhesion.
