OH-NO! My nic-liquid is yellow.
submitted over 11 years ago by Redz0ne

Is this something I should be worried about? Got it a couple months ago and it's 100mg/ml so it's the strong stuff and since I'm at about 18mg/ml, it's going to last a while longer.

Thing is, I was mixing up some base liquids (for when I want to just play around with flavours I have a base that's made so that I can dilute it with about 18-20ml of flavouring and get my target strength... I tend to keep at least one 30ml bottle of base on hand at all times.) When I got to the point of adding the nicotine, it was a sort of yellow colour. Not like a yellow like urine but lighter...

Should I be concerned or is this harmless? What about the taste? Anyone notice if yellowing nic-liquid takes on any flavours that might alter the mixes I make?

Your fine. Nicotine oxidizes and turns yellow. It won't harm you.

This is correct. I find that keeping your nic in the dark will make oxidation take much longer. General consensus seems to be amber glass in the freezer.

Just backing up /u/xEvann. Perfectly normal. I enjoy the rich sheen it gives my juice :)

I concur - I used a bunch of yellowish nicotine from Poland - it was fine. I actually found that it tasted better in tobacco mixes then my other clear liquid - though that might just have been my mind playing tricks on me :)

The nicotine has oxidized. It will taste fine, and there is no harm in using it. The one concern that exists with nic that has oxidized is a reduction in potency. You may want to test it to be sure that it is still 100 mg/ml.

There won't be a significant difference in potency if any at all. It doesn't change that fast.

Was it is the freezer? Liquids change color, and I believe it's because the nicotine changes color.

I would google search it. If i remeber right its not harmful or changes flavor.
