DIY tobacco extract - what does get extracted?
submitted over 11 years ago by IcebeinTobacconist
I did a little experiment on the weekend and extracted some pipe tobacco. I did so using the hot method using both pg and vg in two separate jars. It went surprisingly well, I yet have to make a juice out of it. Now the question arises, what exactly did I extract from the tobacco? Other people here stated that nicotine does not get extracted very well with only pg and/or vg. But how about the other stuff? Polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons, formaldehyde, arsenic, tobacco-specific notrosamines, phenol and so on?

When I was going on websites that make Whole Leaf Extracts they say that had a health warning saying that tobacco-specific nitrosamines are contained in their extracts - so there are those. That put me off using these kind of juices.
